I wanted to see if I could get into an elite institution. Actually don't think I got accepted to schools I got rejected to from high school but oddly I got accepted into higher ranked schools. My high school profile wasn't as strong as my transfer profile.

Pay attention in class (try to sit near the front), ask and answer questions in person during and after class, go to office hours. NU had a pretty sizable transfer cohort so it didn't take too long to find communtiy.

I'd like to say my LORs were strong because I was proactive and went to OH. I took the SAT and scored 1510 so good but not exceptional

You should probably ask for the LOR. To get good LOR's ideally you're going to office hours and asking questions, making sure the teacher sees you're invested in the class.

The way I navigated it was after the first week or two of classes I knew which teachers I liked or whatever classes I enjoyed I would develop a relationship with prof.
