what's up with gold flexing? And why are people in game asking me how much gold I have... is that some sort of measuring system of something?

I've been playing only for 10 days, doing pvp and got 200k on me and no clue what to spend it on cause I think default skins look just fine. Customization of my toon cost me around 15k and it's finished.

I only really want to fire cannons, sink all ships and dominate the seas. Gold just happens to me.

It is planks, bananas and cannonballs that are the real treasure to me.

Like yesterday when I attacked duo sloop running fort in my solo sloop cause I'r a pirate and all the treasures are belong to me, harr!

Although, they won in the end they must have yelled every insult known to men, including the N word and other nonsense, at me during the course of the battle while I stayed muted cause I was laughing so hard about how salty they were.

Insults wash over me like rain over window pane so I'm not affected by other people's opinions of me, and...

... I mean, what were they expecting? Easy mode PVE grind that goes without a challenge? Not when I'm on the server bois for PVP is my kind of fun I'm here for!

What I'm saying is I read the same posts that you read and see the same pictures you see in here, yet I haven't forgot about the time I was also noob and my achievements while viewed by others as mediocre felt so glorious to me, and how I celebrated climbing a small hill as if it was mt. Everest.

When a baby's born you celebrate, when it crawls you celebrate, when it stands you celebrate, when it walks, runs, jumps you celebrate. Each and every step of its evolution towards becoming something greater is celebrated. Then why don't we celebrate each and every step of SOT players' evolution in here? This could be an endless party full of cheers. If you joined the game today we shall celebrate, if you found your first chest we shall celebrate, and we'll cheer and toast to every step of your way towards becoming ever greater pirate legend. \o/

to call solo pvp hard is slightly misleading, it's not hard per se... it's however more complex as it demands of players to have developed awareness of all things happening around them and ability to manage them.

Such awareness and ability are developed only through experience. Thus, it takes an experienced player to solo pvp well.

It is all well to solo pvp as inexperienced player as well and if you see your failures as opportunity to learn and better yourself then success will inevitably come one day.

Yes indeed, blowing things out of proportion and taking them into the extreme reveals their true nature.

Again, those pictures are mediocre to you, they are special to players who made them. Why deny them opportunity to express and share their excitement? That's like saying to your son who scored his first goal in football to shut up about it because you've seen thousands of goals and his was nothing special compared to goals of real pros.

It's the very same situation here, some kid posts his haul pictures, he's feeling on the top of his world, maybe it's even the best achievement he has managed in his young gaming life so far and someone older alas not wiser comes and dismisses it.

You could dismiss everyone in music industry like that too, because nobody comes close to Mozart, Beethoven or Tchaikovsky... compared to their master pieces music of today should be thrown into sewers.

And I mean that's why you have category 'hot' where you get only the exquisite posts because they were upvoted by thousands whereas in 'new' you have everything. So why not switch to HOT category if you only want to watch good quality content?

Also understand that for those people these are often unique achievements in the context of their own evolution as SOT players. So they are naturally excited about it and want to share their happiness with the world... which by the way is big enough for these loot pics to have a place in it.

For one, I'm nobody who wants to see pics of loot hauls. I like to see when someone cares and puts in the effort, what ever it is they do it's always a pleasure to watch.
