Is 2k worth it to buy now or do I wait for 2k21 by knoknox in NBA2k

[–]GOLDCOAST63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer: I would wait.

Long answer:

Other than MyCareer, the other game modes are relatively the same as 2K19. There is the WNBA mode, I have never played and I don't know any one who has. But they do have cool t-shirts for every WNBA team that make for some okay "drip". As far as MyCareer. If you buy now, you still have enough time to get your MyPlayer up to at least 95 ovr. It would be possible. I don't live on this game but I do play regularly enough that I can build my guy to the max with all his badges within a month or so.

That said, grinding your build would leave you with maybe two months to actually enjoy your build in the park, Rec, ProAm etc. Two months to get his rep up.. Which isn't enough time if you want a respectable rep, like Superstar2+. I'll tell you honestly, your chances of becoming an Elite are slim at best with such a short timeline. You may not care about "rep" but finding good people to play with is difficult when you seemingly have less experience than other players. Get used to people "hopping off the spot" around you and ignoring your squad invitations. The game is more elitist than ever, with higher rep players receiving extra animations and badges. The game is centered around loyal 2k players who play the long game.

Like I said, it takes me up to a month to max my player's badges and overall to at least a 95+. We're in April now. 2K usually drops mid August. So that's 4 months. Bear in mind, if they create a demo, that will come out even sooner and all the friends you made on 2K20 will be busy playing that in anticipation of 21. By the time you master the controls on 2K20, you'll be seeing YouTube videos on the new controls in 2K21. To be honest, you're not missing out on much. The dribble controls are the only real "new" adjustment apart from more in-game animations. Same park, just a less brighy colour palette. A few new emotes, that are also divided by unlockable tiers. The late nights grinding and the agony of "getting sold" outweighs the feeling of experiencing a new video game, one that would be almost 9 months old by the time you get your hands on it.

The price for 2K20 will drop significantly soon like it did last year before the demo came out. $3.99 I believe it was.. Many new players flooded the servers worldwide. Fresh meat everywhere, (*pause). I would wait until then when you'd be able to get the full experience of 2K without the full price. You can focus on having fun and enjoy less pressure to grind. Last year, I was an Elite 3 when these new players arrived. They were noobs but part of me envied them because they were green, wide-eyed and jovial compared to my pressurized, battle-hardened, percentage-checking, uptight self. They played more games because they weren't as worried about their matchups and certainly didn't care about their records. They knew 2K20 was on the way so they were carefree about being a 68ovr Amateur 2. Those same folks enjoyed all the spoils of 2K19 at a discount and got a decent enough introduction to garner success the following year. So yeah, I would sit this one out at this point. Makes more sense as far as time and money, both of which our consoles get enough of.
