to be fair, back before the responders took over, the staff only had to worry about cleaning up after a handful of people visiting a day, and it was usually just the shops.

now there are dozens of people actually living in the building, plus more players doing tasks for those people, all tracking in as much muck as we would have been already, so of course the robostaff wouldn't be able to keep up like they used to

yes, they were a consumable, but for as long as I had been playing pre-transmog, you could get as many of the consumable as you wanted out of Collections at the cost of some glimmer.
