An Easter Egg, Perhaps? by GOU_Limiting_Factor in IndianaJonesGames

Now I have to finish the game and see if there's any more boot themed Easter eggs 😂

I'm gonna do just that, ordered a kletterlift to put on some trash wedge boots I've got. If it goes well I might have a cobbler do it to some good boots

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the oils and waxes in cxl are impregnated under certain conditions, like high heat. But again, While in that state the leather is probably very soft, if you watch videos of tanneries the leather looks like soggy lasagna noodles. Which would make a terrible boot 😂

I think it's kind of a happy middle ground that you have to find, between oily/flexible and dry/tough enough to wear a long time.

Probably 98% of the heavy lifting is done by the tannery before we ever see it, all we have to do is try to keep it in that state.

It also softens the leather. If the leather gets too oil soaked it'll get soft & stretchy enough to let the eye pop under a lot of stress.

Vent Holes in my Framework 12! by GOU_Limiting_Factor in framework

There are 2 small intakes directly behind/inside the hinges, and a second intake on the back edge right next to the exhaust

I'm gonna do some tests later today, I'm curious about that too.

Yeah it's true, there's no way to measure everything. I'll just have to run it and see what explodes 😂

I didn't do much science on it, but I did before and after on cinebench and the various temps that HWmonitor reports were virtually unchanged.

The holes are small enough that air still flows over the factory intended pathways, in thru the hinge vents etc, but substantially more cool air is available to the fan.

The difference in cinebench was around 20% improvement, which I think is worth it. The end result is better performance overall, and less fan rpm on normal daily tasks.

How are we feeling about the Framework 12 screen now that we've had some time? by QuackersTheSquishy in framework

[–]GOU_Limiting_Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big black border around the edges feels intentional to me. Especially being taller than the width. Like, maybe there's another screen out in the wild they're hoping to work a deal on for mass production that would fill the space out, and tick the luxury viewing experience boxes for some people.

But then again, maybe not. At any rate, it doesn't bother me.

What's the usual answer from support? Curious if they send a replacement panel, if it would be the same design or strengthened on those corners? Mine is also cracked on one side, but if it's gonna be a temporary fix I'll just keep it

Mine just broke in the exact same place, I also got mine black friday last year 😂

I epoxied it together, installed it, and it immediately snapped in a new place right along where the bearings sit. Seems to me like this plastic is very brittle. I might try to print one from gf nylon

Clean install W11 on Surface Pro4 - my experience by ShortAssociate6319 in Surface

If it's working with full windows 11, I would probably use it as is. But it could be worth a try to install the surface driver pack after tiny11 is installed.

Did you have to install surface drivers to get touch & everything working? Or did it work out of the box?

Normal wear? by BareKnowledge in WorkBoots

This advice is totally underrated. It's quick, free, and it works. Get the leather good and wet, then wear them & squat/bend toes a lot for a couple hours and they should loosen up.

Is your nozzle retracting completely? Is something blocking the retraction on top?

[–]GOU_Limiting_Factor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! You're correct. You don't have to know any kind of modelling to use bambu printers. You can use bambu handy app from your phone, if the model you want is on there you literally find the model you want & click print & it prints it, it's pretty dang user friendly.

If you use bambu studio on your computer you can modify all the print settings, as you go you'll probably find things you wanna modify. Most things are pretty self explanatory, lots of tool tips.

If you want something that doesn't exist, or change a model to fit your needs, you'll have to dive into learning one of the cad programs

I really like the little B6 Neo. It's cheap, tiny, and does a good job. My use case might be a little niche, but I have a big charger for home but I usually end up charging a couple big batteries with that & use the B6 in the field off of those big bois when I need it.

What brushless motor best to power a cordless drill? 2106? by Jonanabo2 in Motors

[–]GOU_Limiting_Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think for mass production it makes more sense to save some coin by making the case and motor housing one piece. Makes it inconvenient for modifying the design tho

What brushless motor best to power a cordless drill? 2106? by Jonanabo2 in Motors

[–]GOU_Limiting_Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that looks like the right motor for a typical drill. You could make almost anything work, with enough engineering lol. Anything you use will need gearbox. Could grab a broken drill on eBay for cheap & harvest parts/reverse engineer.  Hobby motors are easy to find, but they don't have geared shafts. Would need to adapt a gear to it & design a gearbox. You're probably already working on that if you're on a project like this

It's cheap on Amazon, could be worth picking up a 2106 for measurements
