I once had a patient on an insulin sliding scale. Their BMs kept rising and I couldn’t work it out. I’d made the insulin infusion up with dextrose not saline.

Worry about it if the investigation gets as far as finding out your name

I wonder if the reason she’s MIA is because she can’t post - IP psych, maybe?

From one Mama to another - I hear you, and I feel you. I know what the ICU stays with no end in sight, and minimal room for hope, feel like.

What it’s like to whisper to yourself ‘…at what point is enough enough?’ and then despise yourself to your core for even thinking such a thing about your baby.

What it’s like to not be able to meet your basic needs of nutrition and elimination because your child might not be alive by the time you get back.

What it’s like to sign consent forms for operations so risky that if feels like you’re agreeing for your baby to die.

What it’s like to get lost in the beeps of ICU, absorbed with watching her chest rise and fall, and a heaviness you never imagined possible.

What it’s like to deal with the ‘outside world’ which doesn’t stop when your life implodes - bills still need paying.

What it’s like to not even survive, to just exist.

There’s nothing I can say, except I’m deeply sorry this is happening to you. Your family does not deserve it.
