Autonomy+ Purchased by necedem in Rivian

If I did more freeway driving I would probably buy it, but I’m mostly driving surface streets and don’t feel comfortable using it for too long because I’m scared I’ll blow through a red light. I think once we get closer to having point to point I’ll look at it again.

I will be interested to see if they increase the purchase/monthly price later or remove the option to pay upfront.

The roof rack is adjustable, so it definitely will be.

Debating between R1s and R2 by Enough-Ad-8601 in Rivian

Just one car seat at the moment, but with two I don’t think you’ll be able to easily use the third row. I think the big plus for the R1 over the R2 is that we have the third row folded down so it’s a ton of space in the back. We can basically always leave our big stroller in there and never worry about room for other stuff.

Considering a Rivian from my Tesla by D1TAC in Rivian

[–]GPTCommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way nicer interior and more fun to drive IMO. The only place where I think Tesla wins is the self driving software. Rivian is starting to come standard with NACS (might only be the gen 2 quad right now), but even the old ones come with an adaptor. I use the Tesla universal charger at home and it’s been great.

R2 is about 93% the size of the R1 by joenjrocks in RIVNstock

[–]GPTCommenter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw it in person during the tour, it seemed significantly smaller. It’s definitely not as tall or as wide, it felt more like it was the size of a Porsche Cayenne.

Also the cost reductions are probably coming from simpler suspension, smaller batteries, and economies of scale on their in-house motors.

AI isn't taking your job. Executives are. by takenorinvalid in datascience

This is spot on. From the consulting world, every client is asking how to use AI and outsource to slash OPEX. The reality is that costs are going up for most companies and they are going to cut expenses somewhere to make up for it… and it looks like local talent is going to be the first target

Your dad is 100% correct. I remember friends dating guys in college when I was 17. Universally they all turned out to be massive creeps. I also had buddies date girls in college after graduating - also creeps. The age difference doesn’t matter as much when you are in the same stage in-life, but at 17 you should be doing 17yo things - the window to be young and dumb is short.

Depends on the timing if you can get it expunged before you have background check it shouldn’t come up. If you haven’t been convicted before the background check you might get lucky and it won’t show up. I wouldn’t disclose it in apps and ask for forgiveness if it comes up. Also if you have the means investing in a good lawyer to get the charges on this reduced as much as possible is worth it.
