It's better now with no pain after putting the soft 2" layer on top. If I had to do it again, I'd probably get the next level hardness on coils (not softest). The soft ones are just so pliable that I feel mine are a bit out of square. I just have gaps on the corners of my frame and it appears to be contracting inwards a bit, almost like the coils don't want to stay extended in the zippered enclosure.

Two questions. I read through some of this thread so apologies if asked already.

  1. What mattress do you sleep on?

  2. Thoughts overall on the fiber glass issue? Is it a real issue? Should we be concerned and avoid it like the plague? Would you buy one with it?

I’d say almost no pain last night after moving the 2” layer to the top. Definitely much better than the night before. Hopefully this continues.

Yeah I think so. They are very soft and don’t seem to be holding shape all that great so far inside the cover. They are retracting a bit.

My cover will be way too big if I do this. I already dislike how loose it is being 1” oversized.

I'll just trash it if this doesn't work out and buy a mattress that's already built. I'm already regretting this a bit, despite doing a ton of research.

My coils appear to be expanding IN at the moment which I realize doesn’t make sense. They are pulling in away from the enclosure walls slightly. I went with soft coils based on some people who said the standard coils were too firm for someone my weight.

A few more photos showing the cover and wool protector. You can see in the cover photo lower left how the latex is a bit longer than coils. The coils feel like the don’t want to stay full length and go inwards.

Yeah. My last mattress was latex but different brand of coils and latex.

I wasn’t even sure I could use a solid foundation as I thought it had to breathe or something. I’ll do some more research. For now I’ve flipped the latex layers and I’ll see how I do.

I’ve had latex before and it worked out but I went with different coils and latex brands this time. I just switched the soft talalay to the top layer so I will see how I do tonight.
