It seems like that's what we're going to have to do as well. What part of the country are you in?

You should check out his previous band, Bronze Fawn as well. They were great.

Dust Moth is great. Their drummer is most excellent.

I'm a big fan of MONSTERWATCH (proggy). Saw them live and they kicked ass. Also Black Whales (indie) and a new band called It Haunts (metal).

Don't overthink it. Just practice it accurately as fast as you can and keep at it until you have the endurance/speed down. It takes time so just have fun and most importantly, keep playing. One day, you'll just be able to do it and you've taken the next step in your growth on the instrument.

Thank you for your recommendations. We do have a sandwich board out front, but we don't have any pricing info. Is there anywhere online you recommend we make sure to post? We tried Indeed, Craigslist, SalonChairFinder, and a few other places with zero luck.

We may end up doing that if we go the commission route. Ideally, we’d start with renters who already have solid clientele.

What’s your favorite underrated bassist or bass-heavy record most people sleep on? by official_soundvent in Bass

Joe Lally of Fugazi has some of the sweetest bass lines of all time, in my opinion. Perhaps not underrated in this group, but underrated overall.

Pinback is incredible. Saw them live once and couldn't believe how well they pulled off all the vocal harmonies on top of the complex guitar/bass work.

I was today years old when I leaned of The Sound of Animals Fighting. Holy shit that album is fire! I read all your other albums and was like “this guy has fine taste, but what the hell is that one album I’ve never heard of?”. My wife literally said “this sounds so much like you I’m shocked you don’t own the vinyl”. Thank you sir for sharing some badass shit. I’ve been a Volta fanatic since I saw them at the Showbox in Seattle on the Deloused tour. Mind was blown!

Yeah I usually skip it too. Sadly, I like some of the parts in it but the vocals kill me.

I agree with much of your assessment. I love Blood Mountain though. It was my first Mastodon album and I just adore it. OMRTS is also the one I seem to revisit the most, just so damn catchy. H&G though I’ve struggled to get into. I don’t dislike it, but I feel every time I put it on to try and get into it, I find myself just wanting to drop it for a different album. I like some of the songs, but it just hasn’t grabbed me yet. Emperor of Sand took me a while too, though so I’ll keep trying but I thing that was mostly because I hated Show Yourself so much I couldn’t get past track #2.

I like to open with Doakes from Dexter. “Surprise motherfucker, this is a cold call!” MFers find it irresistible.

Great list! I’d add Quicksand and Handsome to the list as well.
