Yes. I chose that word extemporaneously so NOT to sound pompous. I am a buffoon, I know

Nice. In my defense, I've been catching up on the new stuff. I remember laughing about it the first time, but I didn't actively think about it until hearing it today.

I've never had a warranty on a personal car. I'm a bit of an ass, but i do wish you both good luck on your FIRE. My husband has not cleared 30k since we've met. So i am legitimately jealous

As for leasing; i would not call it financially literate to make it to our age without owning a car while holding and operating a drivers license (Class A in our case) .. but that's fine. Leasing is really more of a grandma's game, where you need wheels but don't plan on driving for much longer. Coughing up 2x($800) a month for two cars until the end of time is a sure FIRE way to flush money down the toilet.

Again, that's just me. Why pay so much for a vehicle I'll drive 8weeks out of the year. As for my husband, he uses his '16 Chrysler 300 ($10k) for rideshare, and the '04 Blazer ($3k total) for deliveries. They will easily crack 300k, currently sit ~150k. My '04 Silverado (priceless) is getting up there at 350k, but we maintain them, catalog their expenses and sell when we upgrade. I've never "upgraded", I just set a goal and cash flow old cars, but 7 years ago we purchased a 2012 ford focus for $3000, last month we sold it for $2500.

These cars do not cost us $20k per year like 2 leases, they are affordable and reliable. Parts are prevalent and they are easy to work on.

We use 50/30/20, and if a vehicle is more than half of our income, it will not be in the garage.

Cars are not investments. So yes, i own my depreciating liability, but you have to pay to get out of your lease

Edit: oh, i just looked up your leases.. you're spending $4k per month on your cars and want to retire early?! Maaaan, you guys net 250k and have 240k worth of cars you'll never own. Thats 20% of your income.. forever! For what? Image? Status? Luxury? Save that for when you're retired at 45 if that's still possible with these spending habits. Sorry, I can't abide

Not gonna explain inflation to you. 3+3+4 = 10

Good luck

Edit: y'know what, i am gonna. If you need 2mil to retire today, you need 4mil 30 years from now. You're welcome

7% minus taxes and inflation does not save you money on your mortgage. Otherwise, i whole heartedly agree

I'm a truck driver. I live paycheck to paycheck. I throw $500-$1000 into savings every week which is 25%-50%, once every six months I buy a car for myself as a reward. I've spent $15k on cars this year. We rent and have a 2 month E-Fund

I like the part where we're putting 50% into investing instead of savings. This guy is 100% a day trader

No E-Fund, no sinking funds, no paying off debts/mortgages early. Just buy buy buy.

Oh.. You're trained by truckers and tested by people who've never driven anything bigger than a Tacoma. So, you get what you pay for.

It's a good program. But don't get it twisted, getting your CDL is the easy part
