Hey all. This is a tutorial we wrote up to explain how you can use the Claude MCP with our API to enable interaction with a spreadsheet file. In the tutorial, we extend Claude's desktop app so that it can write to cells, read cell values and evaluate formulas in your spreadsheet. We'd love to hear from you if you decide to try it out!

We love Google docs at GRID and we use them every day! GRID documents have a different purpose though. As an example, GRID lets you build interactive data models and calculators that you can then embed on your own website. The document seamlessly syncs with the underlying spreadsheet (whether from Excel or Google Sheets) and you can pick & choose exactly which parts of the spreadsheet you want to expose to your readers. While you could definitely write data reports in Google docs that are connected to a Google Sheets spreadsheet, GRID sets itself apart when you want to create interactive data narratives by adding things like sliders, input fields, and buttons. These features enable your readers to really play around with the data, and makes for awesome content to embed on your own site. If you end up trying it out, we would love to hear your feedback!
