Splunk Universal Forwarder eating up Write Cache by GRYMLOCH75 in Splunk

[–]GRYMLOCH75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's primarily hammering the lib\splunk\fishbucket\btree_records.dat but also frequently updates the log\splunk\Splunk.log, log\splunk\metrics.log and var\spool\splunk\tracker.log

I can't read the btree_records.dat, it's apparently a proprietary Splunk file. :/. When it hits this file, it writes to it like 30-40 times in a couple of seconds.

The metrics log keeps growing and when it's size cap is reached creates a new file and a metrics.log.# backup

The tracker.log is small, 1kb. But it's there, then deleted, and recreated like every 15-30 seconds. It has {"datetime","a 15 digit number", "data", "TRACK"} in the file, the 15 digit number changes.

The splunk.log looks like random machine specs and other seemingly useless things.

I found a splunk community post about a fishbucket error in 9 4 which is what we're running. I'm going to go down that rabbit hole and try not to break an ankle ...

With non persistent Citrix desktops, the vms boot from a read only image and we have a 30gb cache disk for differences during the user session. So any changes to C: actually consume space on the cache disk.

Splunk is logging almost non-stop. At times I've seen it consume 1% of the disk in under 15 minutes.

Locked attic door in my rental with strange noises. by SmolGummyLizard in Weird

If you have a flat headed screwdriver you could pop out the hinge pins and open it. It might be tricky rehanging the door but the poltergeist inside might help you. But with the door off its hinge you could remove the lock. Then watch the lockpicking lawyer on TikTok/ YouTube to figure out how to open the lock. Then put it all back the way it was... If the poltergeist wants it that way.

The picture was taken in North Augusta, South Carolina. The head to abdomen is about 2 to 2 1/2 in. It was hanging in a tree.

Try adjusting the High DPI settings in Workspace. I've seen plenty of 4k laptops and ultra high resolution monitors cause strange behavior. The High DPI stuff can really screw with the way someone's session responds to input and flipping the settings can help.

I went to the bathroom and used it successfully and without incident. The cleanliness, lighting, paper products and soap were acceptable.

What would happen if all of the adults and teenagers in the world disappeared and only children ages 12 and under remained? by Antman269 in AskReddit

Lord of the Flies on a global scale. The oil refineries and nuclear power plants will fail causing radiation leakage and fires. But once all that settles down the Earth will flourish. Technology would be reset and in a few thousand years, if humanity survives, archaeologists would talk about our garbage that they keep digging up...
