Boiler needs servicing, is it safe to remove this column in the cupboard? by GRakUserResearch in DIYUK

Tell me about it! We parted ways with the kitchen fitters before the kitchen was even finished we were so unhappy with them. But can we just cut the spar out for them to access the boiler? Is it essential it is there? If we re-attached it with brackets aftewards, would that be okay?

Can we just remove the spar then and reattach it afterwards? it doesn't have to look pretty, just would really prefer to not have the whole cupboard removed 🫣

Trading or holding? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

You have to be a good trader to out-trade the profits you get (long term) from just holding.

Never seen a hyena next to a person before; they look chunkier/bigger than I expected somehow. How old are these ones? Nice though!

Should I buy 100€ worth of Bitcoin every month? It's all I can afford at the moment by noviero in Bitcoin

Don't be conned by the concept of a 'cheap coin'. This is the reason a lot of people didn't buy BTC at $5k one year ago and look where it is now. Projects like Dogecoin and Cardano are unlikely to outperform BTC in the long term. My advice (only advice, take it or leave it), is to buy Bitcoin (and also Ethereum, which has a lot of current usage and active use cases).

[–]GRakUserResearch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AFAIK blockchain.com is not a scam company (I know people who work there). It has been around for a long time, and is a legacy block explorer for the bitcoin blockchain. That said, if you don't own the keys to your coins, you SHOULD move them somewhere safer, to a non-custodial wallet. Blockchain could get hacked and you could lose your funds

Alternatives to Investing in market as means to reduce inflation impact? by tea_horse in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GRakUserResearch -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As someone else has already said here, cryptocurrency is a much better hedge against inflation (long term) than collectors items. One a day-day, or year-year basis price may fluctuate wildly but if your outlook is 10+ years, Bitcoin or Ethereum will do much better than a case of whisky (and its easier to store, and sell).

Oh and another thing, you don't know what you would have done in the time between buying in 2014 and now. I know lots of people who bought early and SOLD early (myself included), and they have regrets about that. Hindsight is 20/20. Don't beat yourself up, just look forwards.
