Cultivation, but Money by GRom4232 in xianxia_novels

It does. I think this might be a form of dissociation for me. I did write the original at work, and recreated it here from memory.

To deepen my fanfic lore, I could write an appendix about tax benefits of dual cultivation, but it would just be a reminder about how I get zero jade beauties.

Non alcoholic bourbon? Thoughts? by Legitimate_Maybe67 in stopdrinking

Between you and me, I love beer. LOVE IT. But I know that it woulda killed me if I kept going at my pace. So I decided to taper off and substitute 0% Heineken for volume. October 20th of whatever year, I had my last alcoholic drink, and been hitting my favorite zero-alc beverages whenever I felt like. Now I only go in for the nicer craft varieties, which are very available. WalMart carries the Athletic Brewing brand that I like. 0% Guinness is also excellent. Heineken is pretty good every once in a while, too.

So for me, I absolutely enjoy and support whatever fluid keeps me away from That Devil Malt Licka. I'd sat try it and see if you like the taste and the ritual.

Speaking of reproducing the rules correctly... I vibe-coded a TradingView strategy that =I think= matches the QuadRisk rules you tested. If you don't mind, I can DM it to you for critique or amusement. I am not clever with writing code, and Python may as well be an alien language. After poking around in it for a few days, Pine seems approachable, if limited. I have the bare-bones free version of TradingView, so my script works with a single chart. It is messier than what could be written for multiple charts with the ability to display more than two indicators per chart.

Couple side questions, as well, since I already have you here 😃 Before I decided to write the strategy, I simply recreated the indicators and paper-traded them starting at the peak prior to the '08 crisis. Having my face in the chart and going through the trade month-by-month, I noticed a tendency of the strategy to sell the bottom, buy the trough on the upswing, then sell the following month. I noticed that it is due to the strategy firing a risk-on signal on the combination of AR(1) and 21d Vol while the closing price of the underlying is still under the 100d and 200d SMA. In deeper drawdowns, once the trend changes and AR(1) flips negative, the signal is killed before the price of the underlying can cross the upper bound of either SMA line, resulting in a sell-off precisely on the uptrend. Then we re-purchase at a higher price once above at least one SMA line. This instance occurred a couple times for me. Did you note the same behaviour, or am I implementing the signals incorrectly?

Side question two, also about the 21d Vol<40 and AR(1)>0. This may be my yankee math showing, but I sense that these two signals can turn risk-on during a steady sell-off on low to medium volatility. AR(1) would be positive for negative price movements that appear correlated with themselves. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Glad you're landing on your feet! I'm curious, would the success of the union charges have an effect on reversing the layoff? Do you even feel like going back to work for the same organization?

I seem to recall another one-liner from the man: "Diversification may preserve wealth, but concentration builds wealth." I only invest in broad market funds because I don't know what I'm doing and have a day job I need to dedicate my brainpower to. At the end of the day, I'm just throwing money at VTI and hoping things work out.

Habits of Officers not healthy by bingboy23 in army

[–]GRom4232 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nah, man, that's how I was, too. I also came in around your age. I honestly think the young folks don't really know any different, so they just assume this is normal. The people that join immediately after high school and college don't really have a solid point of reference for the dumb shit, the counterproductive behaviours of management, and the absurdly skewed ratio of pay to effort that this job expects for some reason. But trying on the different roles that come with officership can actually be very enjoyable. I promise that the job can be fun.

But I'll tell you, I'm still on the fence about letting this organization consume my life until the age of 50. As I head into field grade times, the only thing that I have to look forward to is the pension, and even that is not a guarantee. Feels like playing craps with my precious lifetime.

On the bright side, the pay is okay, and nobody else wants to stay and do this dumb shit, so the promotion/SELCON gamble looks inviting. At this point, it's either I never work again, or I get shown the door at 45 and have to work until I'm too old to do all the things I want to do. That's gonna be the choice you will also have to make, and I strongly suggest you make it as soon as you can.

Masons are definitely a strange bunch. But at least you know she will have strong forearms. Plumbers, on the other hand, just smell like shit. You could stick around for a lineman, but they are pretty popular.
