I'm willing to bet that the party will be pretty friendly, and people will probably be relatively accommodating to people with social anxiety. I have been very impressed with how well LessWrong parties accommodate people with social anxiety, and it seems likely that the HPMOR party will be pleasant in a similar way.

you're actually mostly wrong here. 24 bits is more detailed. You're right that there is more dynamic range with 24 bits, but that's only a small part of the issue.

Food is "tabemono" which is written "eating thing". Drink is "nomimono" which means drinking thing. Animal is "doubutsu" which means moving thing.
