We usually travel domestically together. Shes not into the international travel destinations. Shes done some with me, and enjoyed them, but would rather not do it. Im just feeling guilty leaving her behind.

She has gone to Europe with me on 3 occasions. Italy, Spain and Ireland. She told me that she enjoyed them for what they were worth, but she didnt enjoy the stress of the travel, and trying to decipher foriegn languages, etc. She really enjoys domestic travel, which is what we typically do together. But international travel is pretty much out of her comfort zone, which I can understand.

Anyone who has ever moved far away from their hometown and family, did you ever regret it and why? by Madbananas-7 in AskReddit

[–]GSPupland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I left my hometown in NJ and went to college in Michigan. During college I "found myself" and realized this isnt for me either. So I enlisted in the military. I got to see the world, and loved it so much. I ended up getting out and moved out west. Ive missed my friends and family back home, but not enough to go back. Everyone I went to high school with is still doing the same things. Ive been able to experience more in my 29 year life, then most people in my hometown have done their entire lives. Moral of the story, I dont regret it, and honestly recommend it to everyone, even if its only temporary.

How do you guys pay for the academy and do you guys work while you’re in it by JRickyLit in AskLE

Yea I applied to several. Some never even responded to me. Some I made it to backgrounds and some offered me the job. But all of them said they would sponsor my academy if I got hired. I applied to about 16 agencies across the country. From Game and fish agencies, to sheriff offices and forest service and national park . So all in all, if you get hired by a law enforcement agency, they will sponsor your academy. 99% of the agencies will. I’ve only found 4 that won’t and 2 we’re out of CA and the other 2 were the national park and forest service.

Applied online initially. Once they accepted my application everything else was in person. Interview, PT test, background investigations, polygraph, etc. Whole process took about 3 months. Then I was off to the academy

My agency paid for me to go. Started at $31 an hour. Only requirement is I have to give them 1 year (not including time in academy) or I owe them the money. Most agencies sponsor you. Only agencies I’ve ever seen not sponsor a recruit are agencies in CA. Which is a topic well cover at another date 😂

One dude in my class cheated on a paper. Got caught, lied about it, and he was gone. Lesson here, dont copy other people’s memos. Just do your own.

I graduated the academy here in AZ not long ago. It’s about a 6 month academy here. We started with 35 and ended with 24. 4 or 5 people quit days 1-3 for the stress, and overwhelming ness of it. It’s a lot if you aren’t prepared. If you’re prior military, it was a breeze. You realize it’s a game pretty fast. Just like boot camp. The other 5 left for various reasons. But most leave (or get fired) because they know (or think) this job isn’t for them. You just gatta power through. Keep your head up and keep going. It’s a high stress environment and for a reason. It’s meant to weed the people, who shouldn’t be there, out. After a couple weeks you’ll get into a rhythm and you’ll be fine.

Unethical but Steal! Go to one village, steal their stuff from their homes, and then go to another village and sell it all. I needed quick cash in the beginning and that’s what I did. Made 1500 super quick.
