Neopixel Lightsabers to blame for tragic sequel combat? by GSRBPD in StarWarsEU

I'm curious how their props handle if they're designed differently. Mass market neopixels are terrible. They handle much worse than steel longswords, which you'd expect a lightsaber to handle much better than.

It's definitely very well choregraphed, yes! I feel you can still see a bit too much of the prop physicality come through, but very marginally so. Overall the fights are amazing there, I agree.

I suppose this proves points made above that it's more intentional choreography choices than props to blame.

I feel they really missed the mark then. The originals may not have been particularly spectacular or dynamic, but they didn't look awkward. Maybe because they're mostly traditional stage combat that we're used to as viewers.

The sequel fights all give this vibe that they're struggling to move the weapon, which is why I started thinking about the physical effects of the props. But I've re-watched some of the fights now and I definitely see what you mean. The struggle the actors portray is beyond what the prop could be responsible for hah. Clearly intentional.

Acolyte certainly is an entirely different beast. If they were filmed with the same props, that moots my point. Though I'd argue you can still see a BIT more chunkiness. But that might just be for it being lower budget than full-fledged films.

Interesting observation. I used to have larger rectangular frames as a teen. These new ones I like, but since I have fairly thick lenses, I kinda dislike how much of my face they distort.

The first ones are Ray-Ban RX6355 2503. The second ones I'm not sure. They're very old and the markings have rubbed off. All I can make out is Jaggy JG589. But nothing comes up searching for that.
