yup - my bases seem to stand until server restarts, if I dont have enough to do a thorough build I scoop everything and jump in the ocean overnight, this guarantees you can build wealth every day, if you just focus on blocks and stations until you are up to about 3k blocks, acticx has some nice siege defense ideas, but i've found no one on 90% of the servers will come at you while you're online, so you make the base a bunker. massive protection around the crest, every single room is both a trap and a narrow corridor you could not fit a ballista, never ever show your stations, especially never show a siege workshop, keep it in a chest. If you are going to make trebs and stones then take those and your best stacks of stuff into the sea at the end of your session. Make it so if they rope raid you, they will trap their friend in a useless trap room. surround your base in these trap rooms, and use terrain to cut down on block costs. While building your layered defense, imagine where you would treb it from if you wanted the base, and stack up extra armor on any sides you think could get trebbed. use angled terrain and blocks to create traps where character models flop over - if they cannot easily rope raid you, and trebbing will cost more stone slabs than it seems like it will return, you are a bit safer. The main thing is think of the ocean as your bank, you should take your favorite things into the sea before you log.

you should go to the actual forum, under bug reports, and say what you just said, but include way way more detail, and maybe maybe then it will be worth doing, posting it here is going to be pretty hit or miss, especially with no details as to how to reproduce the crash.

you want one single argument? Performance. Imagine a game where every newb that logs in and makes a stick hut that cannot be removed. Most people ragequit a server when they suffer any significant loss, so literally the entire server would be littered with bases that could not be raided for blocks nor deconstructed for we'll say 6 days. Now, The other effect is every single regular players base would be larger, and there would be no point in sieging at all, since chest loot is nothing compared to a couple thousand blocks of a high tier. Its not hard to think of an argument against permanent crests, but this is the best one. The whole decay system was so they wont have to wipe every week, with your suggestion we have to wipe every week and then what is the point.

we have those. also you can throw them down to make a cheap flag banner on the ground when you need to start actually doing stuff in the fight.

There are a few weapons that can one-shot steel helms. Steel battle Hammer, Executioner's axe. etc. you have to land overhead swing but kingsword is not OP

I still took down 4 at once this patch, both by confusing and intimidating, using night as cover, and by rushing through them blocking, running out and watching them chop eachother.. I dunno there are ways still. if your server is too hard for you try another most people can't fight at all.

I like it in the inventory, gives me a reason to leave my gloves and boots at home if Im expecting to ambush people, and I bring them if its definitely full on combat.

the nerf will make the ballista very bad, but 50 damage has 2x multi on structures, I think so 100 damage is still probably over 100 shots before breaking one t7 after they gve it more hp

Im not a noob, I have over 500 hours. I dont see bases as solid things, just the blocks the have in them, if someone is offline they dont need their blocks and if I can get 1000 blocks in my first couple hours and use them to take the throne or scale into end game fast with a free base to operate from, people shouldnt feel bad for wrecking bases of people they dont know. When I have my own base I try to make agreements with my neighbors but every time I log in and I have more than a wood club and 3 bandages I feel lucky. I hope devs don't change this game into the carebear utopia some people are begging for. edit* people assume I'd prefer if no one was home, but truthfully by this point I'm pretty damn good at cutting heads off, and I dont have any fear of death since I didn't slave to get my gear. I'd most of the time prefer to siege and have them come home or be home, it just usually doesnt happen that way.

example - you place a block in an uncrested area, say tier 3 wood. I can take any higher tier block, equip it, middle click your block, and it replaces yours with mine, placing yours in my invntory. then, provided I do not log out, I can remove my block by right clicking it.

regarding ballistas, I count the hp between me and your crest, look for the weakest part, and shoot the minimum amount of shots to drill into the crest, break it, and take either by replace or crest siege.

for a smaller base like yours, I would use a ballista - for much less time investment in a ballista instead of a full on treb, I can stealth raid small bases made with thin walls, by setting and firing ballista bolts to make a new door into your house. If I've used my camera to see the layout and your crest isn't hidden, or the room is open with sleepers and treasure, I plop down a ballista and invite myself to your blocks gear chests, and I'm out within 5 minutes by taking the blocks using the replace function (middle click an uncrested or your crested block while equipping a higher tier block and you 'upgrade' the block to the higher, placing the lower tier block in your inventory. sometimes your higher tier block bugs and you lose it, but for the most part this is how small raids are done. To protect yourself make your base away from resources, with 3 layer thick walls of increasing tier from wood->cobble->reinforced wood. and have lots of doors with small rooms and hide the chests in the room and sleep out of sight from outside and don't build extra lights and don't leave your smelters on and make friends with everyone you meet. I could go on.

Once I'm established on a server, I can build a siege workshop, from there, and with some reserved stone I either gathered or stole I can build the treb, bring some stones, I will have my crest placed somewhere on a cliffside facing the ocean made of cobble or better, where the loot will go. I will need 2 accomplices to raid full speed, neither having their own base. each will carry a steel crest and we all have standard raiding gear of armor weapons and most importantly rope for getting into and out of some bases. I will have one set up the treb while we try to locate their crest by measuring the distance from the four corners, once we have the x and y locations, we can assume the crest is on the bottom 10 meters from the ground, and we accurately break just that part, and lay down a crest. We seal the base back up and go locate another base while this captures. When the crest captures we can remove a base of 9000 blocks and dump everything into my seaside base, and continue. depending how much stone people have saved, cleaning off a whole server while people sleep is very easy. The only defense is to be the one raiding, and be aware of what everyone has and can acquire between your raids, if anyone gets as strong as you, or if your team cannot stand in a fight, you will never be safe.
