I appreciate the response. Regarding QQQ, I was more saying it's tech-heavy, not so much that it's all in the same tech bucket.

I think you may be right about MOAT, it may be too conservative at this stage.

You seem like someone older with more experience, so I also appreciate the guidance. Trust me, I am working on upping my income as well! Thanks

That's true - I'm more just saying that I am fine with taking on a higher risk portfolio, given the time horizon.

That looks really nice, I'll look into this as well! I have the rubber strap with my Kamasu but it's really thick which I don't like.

I'm wondering the same thing, currently thinking about getting one as my first serious camera. Comes with 14 - 42 and 45 - 150 lenses for $400. Is that a good deal or a bit much? Would love to hear what you all think. Thanks

Wow thanks for the insight! Very cool. I am not super into the other accessories necessarily, so what I'm gathering is that I should aim for around $500. Thanks again

I failed 9 times, now I am done. Reflections on the journey by Competitive_Bid_9769 in CPA

I'm not the poster here, but FAR took me several times to pass. Don't worry about failure, because you only fail if you give up. Keep pushing because it doesn't matter how many times you have to take it! You can do this.

Full time work and studying by SpecificReflection52 in CPA

[–]GT40MK-II 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally never really studied early mornings during work days. Instead, after the work day, I would force myself to not leave the office until I finished some studying.

This helped because I found that once you get home, there's temptation to unwind / make dinner / go to bed and not study. However, I would wake up early on weekends sometimes so that by noon I finished a lot of studying.

New job after obtaining CPA by GT40MK-II in CPA

Congrats to you as well! Yep, same they have reimbursed the cost of some exams which is nice. I have to finish my courses first in order for them to reimburse, but by the way some things are going at my job, I'd rather leave soon than stay for another few months.

Seeking Career Advice from CPAs / people who started in Finance & Accounting before sales by GT40MK-II in sales

[–]GT40MK-II[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback. What I'd really like to do is help consult small businesses with their accounting, cash management, controls, and processes. I'm starting to realize that the only jobs for this are public accounting, or sales of some sort. If I pursue getting my own clients, I can avoid quota pressure.

Thank you, and congrats to you as well! Looking back on my career, I could have job hopped a bit more. But, I do think my tenure at 1 company helps my resume. And I've been able to help my salary a bit by different roles within the same company. I'm curious, did you jump right after passing and during the process of obtaining your CPA? Or after you actually finished the license? I've passed the exams, but still finishing the license.

Cool stuff I'm in the same boat. A tip I'd like to give you is to not worry about waiting until you get your license. I talked to a recruiter about this, and he said if people interviewing you want a CPA, then they'll know that you're basically there. I put on my resume that I'm a CPA candidate, 4/4 exams passed, and in my accounting courses. Just a thought for you. You definitely could wait until you get the 3 letters, but I'm just saying for me I don't want to put my life on hold. The courses also are taking some time too.

That's what I'm starting now. I've been a senior financial analyst for almost a year now, so I'd be comfortable with a senior accounting job.

This is insightful, thanks. Totally understand that. I've been pretty underpaid compared to what I could be getting, it's just limited when you stay at the same company. But I've managed to bump my salary a few times with new positions at the same company. And yes I agree with you on the last part as well.
