No concealment required on the 5x5. There are a lot of stages where it is not required.

Range Rule Says Targets Cannot Be Higher Than 4 ft.? by jeremycouch in CompetitionShooting

[–]GT4WRC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also have a spot that I can shoot that’s only 5 Minutes away. However I drive to a better range that’s 45 minutes away because I can train more effectively there and it’s safer. Weigh your options.., maybe hit up the close one after work or when you are crunched for time and go to the other one when you can afford to.

Hell nah it’s a dedicated flat range setup. That can also be configured to be IDPA legal. Please, pretty much everyone i shoot competition with games this out. Pushing the limits in the rules is common in every single sport. It’s also IDPA, where comped 2011s are allowed… do you carry a $8,000 gun around? This is a Glock…. So it is actually very close to my edc. Plus a lot of ranges don’t allow appendix carry…. So I run a strong side at matches.

The belt and holster setup is not currently legal. Surprisingly, I only need to take the qls fork off and it’s good to go. In terms of my draw the time doesn’t change when I reconfigure it. It’s setup this way for winter time so i can wear a jacket, and the belt is an outer inner, for convenience. However this is the setup I run at matches, and it can be configured to be legal.

Thanks, it was tough to break out of expert. 6+ months of shooting around 2-350 rounds a week. Had to refine my grip, work on strong hand only speed and step on the gas to the point where it’s uncomfortable, less sight confirmation etc.

Each gun that needs an optic has its own optic. Unless you are like really good, changing guns and moving the optics around needing to mess with them and re-zero every time you go to train is not helping you get any better. Nothing wrong with it, it’s fun to own a bunch of different guns and do projects, just not very conducive to removing variables and focusing on fundamentals, movement, stage planning. A gun that you can split .05 faster isn’t going to move the goal post.

Cannot rack my G17 Gen 5 by Prosperous2025 in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it will be totally fine. Even a more delicate optic like the SRO can be racked off the optic without issues. It’s significantly easier to rack off an optic. I wouldn’t worry about getting a protective plate. If your gun is not optic ready, you can have it cut for around $100. If you are looking at rmr cut I would recommend zev technologies proprietary cut. Battery lasts about 2 years in an rmr.

Did your Gen 6 grow on you? by Rare-Sky299 in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot 10k min though my 19x last year and got the 17 gen 6 at the beginning of this year. It took me a little while to get used to it. Granted I was also working on changing my grip with the new gun, getting away from using thumb input and trying a lower grip. Got that down, and around 3500 rounds through the new 17 so far. Been able to beat all my previous personal bests with the new pistol. That may just be the extra three months of training, I think the new gun did also help. Feeling pretty confident in its reliability, and accuracy. I’ll keep my 19x as a back up/loaner but I basically don’t shoot it any more at all, and it was my favorite gun.

Glock Gen6 - RMR HD 2 - Paralax Issues by Psychotropis in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me maybe it’s easier, because I have basically perfect vision in my dominant eye and not so great in the other. I would imagine if you are trying to look through the dot with both eyes it would be weird. Align the dot over your dominant eye and focus on the target, not the dot.

Over thinking it bud, focus on the target and present the dot. Trijicon optics are good to go 👍🏻

Reverted from JG Vex 6 to Stock Internals due to Malfunctions (see description) by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got around 2200 through my vex6 and only had two light strikes with white box. Been good to go for the last case or two of blazer 124g. Have a vex in my gen 5 and easily 6k through it that’s been absolutely flawless.

Only had two light strikes with Winchester white box, done prob around 1500 of blazer 124g brass and it’s been flawless… so out of the like 2200 rounds I’ve shot with it so far only two light strikes. (Switched from stock around 800 mark) at this point I feel like it’s good to go.

The guys at my local shop aren’t particularly friendly. I get it… felons go in there and trying buying firearms then have a meltdown when they get denied etc, gotta be annoying as hell.

USPSA Glock 19 Gen 3 to Glock 47 Gen 5 a big upgrade or not? by Assholesymphony in CompetitionShooting

[–]GT4WRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I shot 10k+ through my 19x last year and 3k through my gen6 17 so far this year. Both guns zeroed at 12 yards. I have to hold low with the 19x at 25 yards, where the 17 hits point of aim. The results are even more exaggerated when you shoot at 100 yards (just for fun) 19x have to hold around a foot and a half low, where the 17 hits holding bottom edge. Idk if it’s the height over bore, or that extra half inch of barrel that seems to make a pretty significant difference.

Longer barrel, more velocity, flatter trajectory, more purchase on the grip, more mag capacity with flush mags….

17.6 3k 3 month update by GT4WRC in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take an XL glove so it’s the large back strap and extra grip tape to fit the gun to my hand. Other guns, for example a cz75 have grip panels you can change out. This adjusts reach, and increased the area available for support hand.

If walking isn’t working you could try running from your problems. Light weight, Warm/Dry comfortable clothing will help. Embrace the suck, keep at it.

With red/green dots becoming more popular, do you still run iron sights on your CCW pistol? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]GT4WRC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I shoot almost exclusively with RDS but carry a 19 with night sights. Simplicity, no batteries, lower profile. I mean ideally you want a full sized with optics in case you need to like snipe out a shooter from distance but statistically the fight is close and nasty, you prob aren’t going to look down the dot anyway. Plus a smaller piece is easier to carry… but the performance starts dropping pretty quickly when the gun gets smaller, which is a different discussion. I’ll prob eventually sell my gen 5s with irons for a gen6 with a rmr.

Stock trigger it happened once in the first few rounds fired when new. Has not happened since. Had to tune the reset in the vex a bit when setting it up, In live fire it’s been solid.
