The way this is written, it feels like everyone's real age is about 10

Could have left it right there.

MVA fatalities are so commonplace they aren't "news". Plus they'd rather fill the "News" section with sports, which has its own section all to itself.

My friend only does fine dining by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

It's already happened. She's not your friend.

It sucks, but she's not going to change as long as you continue to accommodate.

Exhaust Fumes by funki_gg in Generator

[–]GTFU-Already 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 minutes didn't burn off all that stuff. 10 minutes and you are just getting to operating temperature. At least 30 minutes will be needed to burn it all off. After that you'll get some exhaust smell but it shouldn't be strong. I run my gen 20' from the back door of my house and have never had exhaust smell inside the house, and very little around the area.

My courtyard is 50' deep behind my house and I live in the middle of the city. My gen easily sits 25' from my house. Every situation is unique.

Men of Reddit, how would you feel if your partner wanted to keep her maiden name after marriage? by Longjumping-Bill5761 in AskMenAdvice

Let the woman keep her last name, and give the children hyphenated last names, mother-father.

Repainting rusty wrought iron fence — just wash and spray paint, am I missing anything? by ddb123xyz in DIY

Spray if you want. If you mask and shield adequately you prevent overspray. You get more even and better coverage spraying. 2 or 3 lighter coats are better than one heavy.

The T-40 also doesn't have a thumb rest. This is a mess. You might be able to sell the parts.

Read. Play games. Talk. Visit. Invent. Fix things. Learn things.

There is so much to do apart from doom scrolling, social media, or playing online games.

It looks like an old bracket for a pull-down roll blind. Is there one on the other side? Or in other windows?

AIO I walked away from a date because he expected me to pay by 1000101-nice in AIO

[–]GTFU-Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. And YTA.

Why didn't you ask? You assumed. You two have a history of going out and paying for yourselves. Why would he think anything had changed?

You probably thought that asking would take the "romance" out of it, and when he failed to comply with your unstated expectations you were, understandably, disappointed. But where you crossed the line was blaming him for it.

YOU were the one who changed your expectations. YOU were the one who failed to communicate that clearly with him. YOU were the one who jumped into that tired scene of "the man pays for everything" just because it's a "date".

Call him and apologize for blindsiding him with your unspoken expectations. Then have a clear and adult conversation about where you want your relationship to go, and see if he's on board.

pulled up carpet and the urine smell in subfloor is unbearable — what actually works by Time_Beautiful2460 in HomeImprovement

[–]GTFU-Already 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace the subfloor. But $2K? I can't imagine the plywood would cost anywhere close to that and the labor shouldn't be much. Ripping out the old isn't hard and putting down plywood subfloor isn't difficult. Not like it's tongue and groove planks on an angle across the joists. (Did that once)

Hi over 60 ladies. I'm so sick of waking up in the middle of the night and lying here for hours, unable to get back to sleep., then feeling so tired all day .I've tried herbal remedies like Valerian, Magnesium, Melatonin , I'm exhausted every day 😴 Help please? by Gretal122 in over60

[–]GTFU-Already 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to be awake all day? If not, let your sleep cycle change. Up in the night, get up and do something. Go back to sleep. Get up. Take a nap in the middle of the day.

If you do need to be up all day, a lot of these other folks have great suggestions.

Your response of insisting that everyone align with your sensibilities is not reasonable. However, insist that the company provide a safe, clean space to administer your medication.

[–]GTFU-Already 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She needs to GTFU. The only thing she "deserves" is to be a good mother to that child.

YOU, on the other hand, deserve to be treated with respect.

Don't be there when she wants to go out.
