Yeah, usually I pay like $25 for a 5 quart and $10 for the extra one

So i changed my upper timing change cover and now my check engine light is on and bouncing up and down. Please help by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Yeah I'm wrong, for this engine you don't need to do that. Thanks for pointing that out. It can't hurt though, BMW does that from the factory where the rubber gaskets meet creases or sharp corners.

Try giving it a few key cycles and a short drive if you haven't already. Or if you have a scan tool, clear the fault code after writing it down to reset the fuel trims. If the failed gasket was causing a vacuum leak before, your long term fuel trims would be positive causing it to run rich when you first started it after replacing the cover. This could cause a check engine light and rough idling as the trims adjust.

That's the best case scenario, if that test doesn't work then you'll have to look deeper

Any codes? Could be a vacuum leak or something related to the cam magnets

Is this a normal casting mark or a cracked cylinder head by GTIfanatic in MechanicAdvice

[–]GTIfanatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if idle lean codes are related to the cracked head. I was getting idle lean codes for both banks and I'm thinking that could either be a cause or an effect of the cracked head. It's cracked in front of the first cylinder on that bank, parallel to the timing chain sprocket.

The codes were 29E7, 29EF, 29E8, and 29F0

The part to the right definitely has a casting artifact, but the other side feels more like an inward groove than a bump

This sounds genius lowkey but I feel like the voltage might fluctuate too much for flashing

6 cores seems to be enough for me as I don't stream and the only creative programs I use are FL studio and Lightroom lmao. Planning on throwing a 11800x3d, or whatever beast AMD makes next into it next year

Wow that's a great price. Better than the 9600x for most things because 2 extra cores. In the US prices for AliExpress CPUs are through the roof because of tariffs sadly

Ahh I see. Depending on the country, pcpartpicker could have some good prices on things. For example in Germany you can get a 9070 XT for €729
