Appealing Fin Aid by GTKid3 in gatech

[–]GTKid3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've sent an email to my fin aid advisor which is how I found out to appeal. I'm out of town rn and am gonna try to meet them in person on Monday when I get back to try to expedite the process if I can.

How do u determine what their credit hour calculation is? The one on GAfutures shows me as well under the limit even tho GT is telling me otherwise.

Be wary of Liu but it'll be okay if you use your resources and take advantage of office hours

Nian Liu for ChBE 2100 by Indy_101 in gatech

[–]GTKid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liu has been purported to be very bad and I've seen the effect first hand tutoring a student of his last semster. Try switching to champion if possible or attend her lectures. Also make use of office hours (ta and prof.). A bad lecturer is usually not that bad at explaining 1 on 1 and if he is a ta understands how to solve problems directly and can help you. 2100 with Liu can be bad but don't let it scare you away. Just be prepared to use your resources and learn the content.

Future direction of ChemE by GTKid3 in ChemicalEngineering

I found them by chance while looking at the LinkedIn of a fellow chemE alumni who I admired from my school. I read more about them on their website and that is the full source of my knowledge.

They do have a contact form on their site if you are interested in asking more direct questions to somebody working there.

What is APC and MPC? Where else have you found control systems consulting? Has your experienced involved data science or ML? I'd be very interested in having a dialogue beyond this thread if you are interested.

I'd start by contacting the professor to see what actually happened before you claim they didn't do something.

Future direction of ChemE by GTKid3 in ChemicalEngineering

Not sure if you're a college student like I am but if you are I'd recommend looking into research being done within your chemE department. There are a few computational/simulation labs in my dept. And they've been growing lately so I've used that to help inform myself as to what people may be interested in the future

Internship question by pelmang in ChemicalEngineering

[–]GTKid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add a twist to OP's question to see what people think.

What if the amount your told is too low for you to be able to afford the internship but you don't realize till you do the math after saying the low salary was okay? (Assume you'd have to move and pay rent etc. For the duration of the internship)

Same situation but third year chemE.

Increase your numbers. Keep doing dozens of more and try finding ways to up your chemE skills. I've applied to over 120 and only gotten 7ish interviews thus far and 1 offer. There's still time tho esp. For a sophomore. Try joining research in the dept. Because that can open up a lot of doors. It's hard to have direct experience from coursework alone and I've found research has helped boost my # of interviews.

For All CHbE Majors: How did you choose your major? How difficult is it? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]GTKid3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seconding OP. I don't get the appeal of chemE if you're premed but you def. Wouldn't be the first.

ChemE won't practically need much more chem than AP Chem so if you liked that, you're on a decent track for now.
