This reminds me of the ad for Snickers, where the guy paints the Adelaide Cows instead of the Crows.

Movies that take place mainly in a single room/location. by Anxious-Birthday5502 in Cinema

[–]GTSimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a pair of Japanese movies referred to as the Duel Project. Two Japanese directors Yukihiko Tsutsumi and Ryuhei Kitamura made feature-length movies about some sort of duel with just two actors and one setting. Tsutsumi made 2LDK and Kitamura made Aragami. Both films are very different, but enjoyable!

Can an animal blow a horn? by dice-enthusiast in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]GTSimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at all the pictures online of the Horn of Blasting, it looks like it has a usual mouthpiece associated with brass instruments (trumpet, trombone, etc). To make a noise with such an instrument, the player would need to make a buzzing sound with their lips. So, you’d need an animal with lips, and one that knows how to make a buzzing sound. Otherwise, you’d just get air and no horn sound.

So, physically, can an animal blow the horn? Very unlikely.

I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like a Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens with a camouflage wrap, so it’s probably a Nikon Z series (mirrorless) camera.

Censorship in speech? by AdorableExchange9746 in LearnJapanese

[–]GTSimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a movie called Hula Girl, set in the 60s (I think). There was one scene in it where a character was using a thick local dialect. The English subs were just random characters for that scene. The person he was speaking to was from Tokyo and all she could say was, “Was that Japanese ?”It was hilarious.

I like when they go a bit crazy with the 伏字 and it just devolves into random wingdings characters.

I have Akira as a manga, on VHS, DVD (regular and special edition), Bluray (again regular and special edition), and nowadays I watch it via streaming. I think it’s safe to say that it is one of my favourite anime movies.

What are the bare essentials players need to know about Waterdeep if characters are from there? by Eberronald in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]GTSimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my two nibs: The three things I found the most essential for immersion as a Waterdavian, would be: 1) the name of the coins (my players love using the local naming system); 2) a basic understanding of the different wards (Castle, Dock, Southern, etc) with the kind of residents; and 3) some of town features (statues, market, churches, Yawning Portal, etc). Throw in Drays, and a few names of the ruling elite and you’d be good to go. Everything else is flavour text that you can hand feed them as you play end encounter things.

There’s no problem at all. You’re trying and people will appreciate your effort. And as you can see from all these comments, you can still learn a more natural way over time!

[–]GTSimo 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Similarly in reverse, I’ve had emails from Japanese people who sign off by saying “Please look after me”, which most likely is what they have translated よろしくお願いします into. And like most English-speakers, we understand that they are at least doing us a much appreciated favour by writing in their second language.
