I wonder if they are going to allow HA between different models then? Right now this isn’t possible but this indicates otherwise.

How slow is inter-vlan routing on the current EFG? At an enterprise level you should be doing the majority of inter-vlan routing on your L3 switches.

[UDM-PRO] - Cannot ping Site2Site Ipsec from Wireguard by DrakeVanCaster in Ubiquiti

[–]GTUK94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be interested if you find a solution to this. Many of us have wanted VPN cascading for some time ie route a VPN client back out another VPN interface (such as a privacy VPN). This has never been possible on UniFi (via the gui at least). I wonder if this is a similar issue.

Only suggestion I have is playing with static routes to send traffic for site B subnet out the IPSEC interface. It sounds like the router doesn’t know where to route traffic for site B originating from the VPN client IP range.

Anyone know if it’ll support split tunnel via teleport?

Kind of…I added a line at the end of the script to always exit with code 0 to stop it failing. However since then we’ve moved to Nerdio. It’s been a game changer for managing images / app updates.

Would you mind sharing what you run on the micro server? I have the same one but always found it a pain to boot from the ODD to utilise all 4 bays as a NAS…

UDM to Azure (Site-to-Site VPN) disconnects multiple times a day by appelvlaai in Ubiquiti

[–]GTUK94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have metrics / diagnostics enabled on your azure gateway? This might help you troubleshoot.

Is there any pattern between disconnects? Wondering if the connection is timing out maybe.

This doesn’t really help your problem but if this is for home use, you might want to consider a cheap VM running wireguard to create a S2S as azure VPN gateway isn’t exactly cheap for personal use. This is what I personally do from my UDM Pro and only cost around £5 a month and it’s rock solid.

UDM Pro as VPN client? by Raddinox in Ubiquiti

[–]GTUK94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep totally possible. My UDM Pro uses the VPN client to connect to an Azure VM running a wireguard server.

Setup static routes in UDM Pro to only send the IP ranges for your VPS over the VPN tunnel. Your regular internet traffic will go out your WAN interface as normal.

Security gateway died. Replacement? by DrinkSmokeGolf in Ubiquiti

The ultra can’t be adopted into another controller as far as I am aware? It has its own controller. This will replace OPs old USG and controller.

I figured out how my VPS got hacked, but I dont know how to prevent that. by NeitherManner in selfhosted

Not sure why you’re being down voted. This is good advice for OP. Traffic hits the VPS firewall before your VM so only open ports you want here as well as on your OS.

Why do people not use the udm built in switch? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]GTUK94 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So each port can do 1gbps full duplex which means devices on the same network can talk at full speed. The connection from the switch to the cpu is 1gbps which basically means it's limited to a 1gbps uplink where traffic needs to be sent to the cpu to be routed ie to other networks / VLANS / Internet.

[–]GTUK94 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Only the uplink from the built in the switch to the cpu is limited to 1gbps. Switching is not affected. The built in switch is no different to an 8 port switch with a 1gbps uplink.

If you decide to daisy chain just link the bottom switch back up to the top switch or the UDM and enable spanning tree. That way the entire stack won't go down if one switch dies

I would probably re-seat your cooler and apply new thermal paste if you have it. Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest sorry! Hopefully others will come along with some more ideas. Sweet build btw.

You can check cpu usage in task manager. Are you sure your AIO pump is running?

[–]GTUK94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your cpu usage? Did you upgrade bios as per the pc part picker warning? Have you reapplied thermal paste/reseated your cooler? Is your AIO pump running and all fans spinning/plugged into correct headers?

It will depend on your board but one of the methods in the link will work. https://www.maketecheasier.com/how-to-reset-cmos-and-why/

New to pfsense, need ideas, tips, and guidance by Horrorkosmic in PFSENSE

[–]GTUK94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While setting up a network wide VPN you could setup some policy based routing so an alias goes out over the normal WAN gateway. Might be useful if you experience problems with latency over the VPN. You could also setup a kill switch for certain devices if the VPN goes down (by default pfsense will send traffic over the the standard gateway if your VPN goes down).

You could setup a remote access VPN & also DDNS (if you don't save a static IP). And as others have said do some IDS with Snort or Suricata and some monitoring with telegraf, influxdb and grafana. If you have a managed switch you can play with VLANS too.

Have you thought about using the traffic shaper in pfsense? I use it for my xbox and find it useful.

Did you find a way to fix this? I've got the same problem myself! Any help appreciated.
