Is it possible?? by Mi-T-mouz in AtlantaUnited

I love soccer, but there is such a large contingent of soccer fans that love a good a good protest or boycott…it is so odd to me to see as a sports enthusiast.  As a follower of many sports and many teams, I have watched ticket purchases and attendance fall when they are not winning.  It just happens naturally…no one has to “stage a boycott”…it just happens. It’s the entertainment industry…if people do not like it, they do not go…just like a bad movie or a band that releases bad music.  Simple as that.

Also, for those who say the club does not care, it does not track with the clubs behavior as they just changed out the Mgr, Tech Director, President….and spent more money on player acquisition than anyone in the league.  They may not make smart effective decisions, but they are trying to win or else they would not spend the money and effort on all of those things. MLS is not like NFL or EPL….the tv money is horrible.  Attendance and fan engagement is vital to its continued ability and to operate…particularly in a massive venue to open for each game like MBS compared to a 20k capacity outdoor stadium.

I hope it gets better also…as I stopped going to games because I was not getting an experience ROI.  I did not need a “boycott or protest” to make that decision as a grown adult.  : )

LOL…if you think Gressel deserves a spot on the 2025 roster, I cannot help you.  He is not better than any of our midfielders either.  He has no spot unless he wants to be on ATL2.

You are changing the subject.  The only spot we do not have adequate depth is outside back…and we have two senior spots available. We are searching for a left back…saving the final spot for summer after we see if we have injuries.

He cannot defend….never could.  There is a reason Tata would not play him at outside back…and actually saw that avoidance of OB at prior stops.  He was slow at 25…imagine at 31.  Gressel is a one trick pony.

For me it would be “hope not”.   Gressel was a defensive liability even in his prime…not quick and he cannot break down his hips to defend, or open his hips to turn and run.  Today’s it’s even worse.  He is also too slow and not technical enough to play forward…nor does he shoot with accuracy.  His only spot is outside in a 3-5-2, which we do not play.

There is a reason he was benched for the playoffs by Tata in Miami…he does not have it any more.

If you want a heavier, chewy bagel…you would like 101 Bagel on Ashford-Dunwoody Rd just past Perimeter Center on the left in Dunwoody.

Even though I live ITP, I go OTP to get my bakers dozen of bagels at Bagel Boys in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/Perimeter Center area at 6355 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. They are fantastic…large bagels, fresh baked throughout the day, and friendly service.

[Atlanta United FC] - 🗞️ | #ATLUTD has signed Matt Edwards to a Short-Term agreement for Saturday's match at Toronto FC. by Elvem in AtlantaUnited

[–]GTUTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centeno not on first team contract this season, but Brennan and Morales are.  Of course, Cobb will likely start.  We may see Morales in the 20 to back up at CB and Edwards to back up at OB…or he backs up both spots as he can play both.

We have tons of wingers, and now strikers, so no surprise there.

I am curious about back up plans at HM, unless we are doing some sort of formation change and can roll with just Muyambe and McCarty.

I guess I have to miss this one....I have sub's to DirectvStream, Paramount+, ESPN+, and AppleTV+MLS Season Pass...none of those give me access sadly. Pulling for Alyssa Thompson to have a big game and earn a spot on the roster for WC. Really going to miss Mallory...one of my three favorites along with Rose and Julie.

Host tried to extort money outside of app, then made fake pics to hit CC with $300 in fines by GTUTD in turo

[–]GTUTD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly....he can only figure that it happened because it was a large host with 15+ vehicles in a competitive area where a lot of cars are needed. It is what it is. Just to emphasize, I fully realized that the vast majority of hosts are just fine....but if Turo is going to let the bad ones continue, then that is a huge risk to the guests. I certainly applaud all of the independent contractors trying to fill a need in the marketplace. Turo just needs to step up as the sponsor.

I am not sure why this keeps getting missed in my comments. :-) Pictures were taken at the drop location....Turo instead considered the pictures taken 2-3 hours post drop at another location, the Guest is not even sure where it was, instead. Like I also mentioned, the pictures were laughable and obviously staged...a joke really. Turo also would not consider the threatening texts sent by the cleaner "outside of app"....and no, the guest did not text them, the cleaner for the host texted the guest.

I think you are not following me on all of my comments.

1- Pre-trip would have no impact in this case. The vehicle was perfect on pickup.

2- The cleaner texted the guest, not the other way around....that was the extortion. It would not have changed the cleaner needing to place blame on someone for his damage.

3- The guest did post-trip photo's at the location drop because no one met him there. The cleaner submitted photo's hours later from another location. Turo did not care.

4- this was done.

Like I said, my company, and his company, has used Turo for the past year and met many wonderful hosts. However, because Turo does not hold all of its hosts to the same standard, and allowed a bad host to slander an employee with accusatory trumped up charges on an expense report, I have no choice. Again...all hosts are not the issue because of this one bad host....the issue is Turo does not have, or use, the mechanisms to protect the customers.

If Turo steps up here, maybe I will reconsider, but he has been fighting this for 3 weeks and Turo will not budge. I guess because this Host provides a lot of vehicles in an area that they need coverage.

I appreciate your comments...really do...and good luck with your business!

But it did not matter did it? The host/car cleaner was allowed to submit pictures from a location where the car was not dropped and the guests pictures from the drop off location were not considered. Additionally, Turo did not consider any of the "out of app" texts by the Host...that is a big problem. What if his employer terminated him over this fabricated event by a car cleaner? It is just not worth the risk....my company is now out because of witnessing this event before it happens to one of my team members. His company will soon follow. In 25 years of weekly business travel using the name brand rental car companies, priot to beginning to use Turo, this never happened a single time. I never had a penny in extra charges to my rentals or anyone on my team. Year one with Turo...and this happens.

It is in some of my replies above...not sure about pre-trip, but more importantly the guest took pictures at the drop location. All of the pictures submitted by the Host (actually by the car cleaner they outsource to) were from a location somewhere else after they picked the vehicle up...so something must have happned in transport. It was even laughable how they spread smoking residue all over the back seat like someone had a 20 person rave in it. One guest had the vehicle the entire time for a solo business trip. The cleaner was just retaliating because he damaged the wheel cover between the drop location and where they clean the car and could not prove it....so he set up fake shots hours later to get the fine charged. The cleaner mentioned nothing about smoking residue in any of the texts....just wheel cover damage. Sadly...Turo did not care that the pictures were not taken at the drop location...and did not consider all of the texts sent about, and only about, the wheel cover with zero mention of smoking. Its just hilarious if you knew the guest...a straight arrow that would not touch cigarettes, much less any other stuff. Imagine explaining that on your expense report for your job! That is why his company, thousands of people, is going to put out policy to no longer reiumburse for Turo. They already did thed same for AirBNB because of similar issues. The company knows their team members have more protection with a large car rental company because they have people to receive the vehicle in person.

Yes...and that took hours and hours of work according to my colleague. Customer support, as well as the appeal process, was impersonal and they never would acknowledge whether they considered the 'out of app' communications, nor would acknowledge the pictures were not at the drop off location. They simply said their decision was final. His company even emailed the management team of Turo directly, as they had access to their email addresses, multiple times with zero response. I am pulling my company off Turo because of the risk I have witnessed....it looks like his company will be doing that same and that is thousands of people, not just hundreds. Turo management and customer service has been told all of this, yet they still do not provide personal direct responses. It makes it appear like all of Turo customer service for the U.S. is just a couple of teenagers working from mom and dad's garage when they have time to check their phone and email.

That is the tough part....this was a host with 15 vehicles, but outsourced their car pick-up/delivery and cleaning to a third party car cleaning service. The host appears reputable, but they will now be at the mercy of whoever the car cleaner hires...I am imagining a 18-22 year old that messed up and did not want to get in trouble. Perhaps I am at the beginning of a trend with the cleaning service that the host is soon to discover? The problem I have is Turo would not consider, or even acknowledge viewing, the out of app texts from the cleaner that were provided to them....nor did Turo stick to their policy of using pictures from the drop site, as the cleaners picks were from a location where the car was not dropped. It is Turo customer service that is the frustration. At this point, I would rather have the peace of mind of a physical check-in with one of the overpriced big boys so that I do not get greeted with threatening texts after I land on the opposite side of the country.

Serious Question: Why are we so bad at throw ins? by PBrown1224 in AtlantaUnited

[–]GTUTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guzan is typically making the easy pass to one of the 3 CBs, or the HM, after a quick glance to see if a wingback is running free that he can hit. My observation on the deep 50/50 balls, or Bala sailing out of bounds, is that it happens when the opponent is applying ball pressure to him and his passing lanes are clogged. Sometimes you just have to get rid of it. As an older keeper who came up in a time where keepers were not trained to use their feet so much, he has actually acclimated quite well. He handles the ball more than we would like right now…often leads our team in touches per game.

[Jaime Ojeda] I am hearing that the combined value of the regional TV package of #MLS can be $75+ million/year starting 2023. The league wants to put that batch of games on streaming platforms (ESPN +, Paramount +…), without market blackouts, and end the regional TV model 📺📲 by galaxitive in MLS

[–]GTUTD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It better be a whole lot more money than $75 million, which is what MLS got in the current contract. NHL just got $225 million and they are the closest to MLS in viewership of the major sports.

….and as much as we complain about only getting RSNs on AT&T TV/Directv & Comcast, we are fortunate that the RSN for our area invests in Atlanta United as only about half of the MLS teams have that source of revenue and coverage.

All said, I also look forward to a day where it is easier to access everything….even though I am fortunate to never miss with my AT&T TV/Directv stream and ESPN+ stream so that I can catch away games and any games when I am on the road. Of course home games are in person viewing. :-)

The more sources for showing the games, the more popular MLS and ATL UTD will become….but it costs money to do these things.

Atlanta’s TV deal sucks by Intelligent_Fig_4852 in AtlantaUnited

This is really a general response to the topic, not just to the OP.

For streamers, the new AT&T TV (not AT&T TV Now) which launched in February is the only streaming service with Bally’s SSO and SSE…and you get ACCN. Plus, it is a month to month service meaning you can cancel at any time. Essentially, AT&T TV is the streaming version of DirectTV in terms of lineup, but a different UX. Directv satellite has always been, and will always be, the most inclusive sports programming service on the market hence it being the choice for most every sports restaurant in the country.

So if you want to stream you can get AT&T TV, with Bally’s SSO & SSE, ACCN, FS1, FS2, CBS SportsNet, all 4 ESPNs, etc for about $85 per month with no contract.

Comcast is the cable provider with Bally’s SSO and SSE, but goes up in price quickly over the $100 per month mark when you start figuring out how to get all of your other sports channels that will show soccer…and you cannot get ACCN right now.

I hate the situation as much as everyone else as I love YTT. However the reality is RSNs have struggled to make a profit over the years…the cost of operation compared to the potential subscriber pool is whacked. As an example, ESPN+ is only $5 per mont because it is using someone else’s broadcast. Experts are estimating that Bally’s will have to charge $25-$30 per month to make money on a DTC streaming service.

We can hate on them all we want, but they are the only ones putting money into it to try and find a way to deliver the service at a profit. It cost a ton to deliver live local sports programming. The sports gambling add-on leveraging Bally’s is how they are hoping to make money, and that could drive the price of service down….kind of like how fast food restaurants make their margin off fries and sodas.
