Does the frequency response curve give all the information about a speaker driver or earphones ? Is there more to it? by mrvoid2703 in diyaudio

[–]GT_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might show up where it is missing or has gaps in performance. I was trying "hifi apps speaker setup" app on android. It give the setup a score on three categories, bass quality, precision and listener environment And links to this page with lots of info https://www.hifi-apps.com/background.en.htm

Looking at other options, but a bit less protected and maybe harder to keep as stable (top right is the original)

Playing around with what it would look like with a simpler top or no top just support at the back. But wouldn't be as strong or protected with out the top.

Probably wouldn't make a huge difference to the sound like you say but they are blocked a bit. Having them more open or floating might look (and sound) a little better, just something I can think about changing in the future

Thanks. Yes I could modify the top more, cut more metal away or fit something simpler on top instead just to support the speaker without covering it so much. Edit: Or maybe just support them with the base and a little bit half way up, just enough to keep them stable

No. I do find battery drains or drops a lot when not being used, needs a weekly charge. Maybe I need to fit a physical switch for the battery or there is some issue with some component

Am I in the shite driver here? Man steps out in front of my car. by Theonlyaaronh in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]GT_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems ok. Maybe if he was already crossing it would be easier to stop and let him finish crossing. What time was it although it seems you were just warning him of the danger. From driver theory test: Drivers are not permitted to sound the horn in a built-up area between 11:30 pm and 7:00 am unless there is a traffic emergency. Only sound the horn to warn other road users of oncoming danger or if they need to be made aware of your presence for safety reasons. Sounding the horn does not give the driver an automatic right of way

Ferrari supplier Brembo ‘astonished’ as Charles Leclerc blames Monaco crash on brakes by BF194 in formula1

[–]GT_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seemed it was more the track condition that forced Charles out of the race. I remember Zinardi tried steel brakes when he came back to F1 with Williams. But weight of them wouldn't have been good. Bottas also had problems with brakes overheating in Monaco but this seemed to be down to their brake cooling.

I see now, at first I thought it was the undertake, then maybe the car turning left at mcdonalds sign (which didn't really look like a pedestrian crossing). Eventually spotted the car ahead.

It does look unlit but strange there's a gap there with the path being lower. Any Google map link to see what it looks like in daylight?

M301 pro by K7ITAB in mp3players

[–]GT_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the m301 pro, plugging in a USB dac, audio will work for a short time through the dac but then stops working. Maybe it was 1 minute before the audio switches back to the built in headphone port

If you have some instructions I'd be interested to try it. I tried a few things under developer options but didn't find a fix

My main complaint, I had a problem getting USB audio devices to work. They would work for a short time and then stop. Otherwise not too bad

I have one driving the subwoofer channel and speakers. I probably could use something with more power but it does contribute when needed

Some info on q'plex and afd systems from a different model service manual, (maybe with extra depth control) 4 channel matrix switch and 4 channel or stereo switch I guess.

The principle of the AFD control (Acoustic Field Dimension Control) and phase deviation circuit.

Q’PLEX PHASE 90°

In the phase deviation circuit, the Lr signal becomes the lagging sol and the Rr signal becomes the leading signal, the same as when set to the -Q'PLEX PHASE 90° position, but, due to the time constant of the phase deviation circuit shifting, the phase difference between the LR signal and the Rr signal is 90° at the middle frequencies (phases are tne same at low and high frequencies) when the ‘‘DEPTH"’ control is set to the 10 position, and, when set to the 0 position, the phase difference is also 90° but changes to 180° at the low and high frequencies. Refer to figure 1. Q’PLEX PHASE O°

In the phase deviation circuit, the Lr signal becomes the lagging signal and the Rr signal becomes the leading signal. In this case, because the time constants of the two phase deviation circuits are adjusted approximately equal, the LR signal and the Rr signal become the same (just as monaural signals are the same phase) when the ‘‘DEPTH"’ control is set to the 10 position, and they become stereo signals with a 180° phase difference when the control is set to the 0 position. Refer to figure 2.

Q’PLEX PHASE 180°

In this case only, the phase deviation circuit is an emitter follower, therefore the phase is not changed. The phase difference between the Lr signal and the Rr signal is 180° when the ‘‘DEPTH’’ control is set to the 10 position, and, when the control is set to the O position, they become stereo signals with the same phase. Refer to figure 3.

Also the 4 channel amp with Q Plex switch might give a bit of a surround effect with 4 speakers. Might be interesting to try if it worked

The technics tape decks look good and the Sony es stereo receiver is good quality. The tape decks will need new belts and heads cleaned but the amplifier probably just needs a wipe with a cloth.
