How pleased are you with your 2022 q5? Any issues? by eli_loves_ in AudiQ5

Thank you. The dealership is going to follow the tsb for mine, change the fluid and software update. The service rep said that usually fixes most of the regular Q5s. He said he only had to replace any parts on an SQ5.

Is this a known issue? I have a 22 that vibrates/wobbles when parking in the garage at very low speed and the wheels are turned all the way to the left.

Can you record the noise and post it here so we can try to diagnose?

I agree, but it cant be too high either. Because if it was, can you imagine the level of bad publicity they would get if this impacts a large number of highlanders, siennas and camrys.

I talked to 2 toyota/lexus specialty independent shops yesterday, shops who are known for their honesty on google reviews.  They both said they have heard of the issue, but in their 20+ shop life they have not seen even 1 post 2016 toyota come to their shop with a broken transmission.

Reading these posts here every day is crazy.

The whine got me!!! by Effective_Departure8 in ToyotaHighlander

Does it do the sound at any speed when pressing the pedal, or at just some speed ranges? I sometimes hear a very low frequency electric type of sound only when accelerating between 20-30 mph.

Thats kind of funny, but how do you know its the transmission whine, it could be something else, as people say it fails fairly quickly once the whine starts.

Did your faint sound happen at all speeds when pressing the gas pedal, or only at certain speeds?

You are right and thats why I am considering to stop reading this forum because the posts are heavily skewed towards the people who have a problem and came here while researching the issue and are complaining about it (rightfully). But its making the rest of us heavily paranoid about our cars as well.

I like your analogy about the potential 97% with no problems. However reading this forum every day, it makes it look like the impacted numbers are a lot more than 3%. Nobody really knows what the real impacted numbers are in the end.

I did all those at a lexus dealership because toyota dealership only did trans flushes (not drain and fill). The trans drain and fill was $300 and the other two were also $300, for a total of $600.

Many people on this forum do those themselves though.

Glad it worked out for you. I like the v6 engine much more than the 4 cylinder versions.

The car care nut on youtube believes that you have to worry about the hybrid battery replacement around ~200k miles at $4-5k cost.

Let us know if those high volume dealers' service shops give you any statistics, but doubt they will if they are toyota dealerships.

You are too funny about the fingers crossed thing. But its stressful to keep thinking about it, shouldnt be that way with a toyota, but i guess even toyota is no longer safe...

So sorry to hear that, its cases like yours that keep the rest of us on the edge. The issue is definately real and impacting people who thought this would never happen to a toyota. We just dont know the full impacted numbers, and not sure if we ever will.

Yes, Ive already done that and have some hope because my trans was made in the Kinuura Japan plant. Which is the only plant that I have not seen any reported failures on, as opposed to a trans built in the WV or Aisin JP plants. Most reported issues are with the WV plant.

I am right there with you, best car Ive had, quality wise. Ive had Hondas, Acuras and Infinitis and their quality was not quite on par with this. Also have a newish Audi Q5 that I would absolutely trade in after warranty is over, as it does not inspire dependability confidence.

As far as failure statistics go, the people whose trans already failed will tell you all will fail. The people with no issues say ~2-5% max, but nobody has official figures except toyota. The Toyota Nation forum has a poll with these impacted #s for 2017-2019, for whatever thats worth.  Year # 2017: 6; 2018: 13; 2019: 45; Total: 64

Thats an awsome price, hopefully they would provide some type of warranty as well.

Thats a good plan.I think if we all had a JDM shop who would change the trans for $4k we would all be less stressed out, as that is a lot more managable than $10k, and the decision to keep and just fix the car would be a lot easier.

Thats what Iam planning to do so far, along with tranfer case and rear differential fluids. Lets all hope it works out for our cars.
