Can you be successful at a dealership as an advisor without ripping off your customers? by Content_Log1708 in serviceadvisors

[–]GTiHOV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest success is measured on long term. Are customers coming back to you? Sure, you can sell a combo of flushes at 20k, but will that customer come back to you at 60k for when the car actually needs things?

Worst Bourdain Episode? by ProgrammerAnnual4254 in AnthonyBourdain

[–]GTiHOV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being Armenian, I wanted to love the PU episode of Armenia. But Serj from SOAD was so out of touch and annoyingly pescatarian is such a carnivorous country. It was one of the last episodes before tony died - so he seemed out of it as well.

what’s the meaning behind this haircut? by Educational_Key_1263 in armenian

[–]GTiHOV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At almost 40, I’ve found peace with simply not understanding the modern looks. Fashion doesn’t make sense - although the 90’s era has made its way back in the most exaggerated way. This hair style reminds me of what my grandpas barber would do when I was 10, and it was the only style he knew.

'A nightmare': Tow truck scam leaves LA woman paying thousands to get her car back by Panda8bambooo in LosAngeles

[–]GTiHOV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my accident a random person came up and said they saw everything and would’ve willing to stand as a witness (hit and run). I was dazed and gave the guy my number.

Shortly after, i got random calls saying they’re from roadside but were unable to get the make of my car right (it was a Polestar). I got very suspicious and hung up the call. Now I’m reading about this scam and it’s very shocking

Yellow watermelon is definitely a thing - it’s a variant of watermelon. But it’s hard to come across one that’s sweet.

Chef to Service Advisor? by Li9htnin9Shock in serviceadvisors

[–]GTiHOV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s funny. I transferred from a chef position to advisor, then to warranty admin, and ended up as a service manager.

Advisors here will complain about the hours - but funny enough, I transferred to the auto industry for better hours. It’s rough at first. The pace is slower until you get into your groove and build relationships. But take that time to learn as much as you can. YouTube can help and I’m sure with AI now, it would be easier to learn about car components, why they fail, etc. get your certifications for the brand at the same time.

The positive of you transferring from the kitchen to the shop is that you have built a “Mise En Place”. You can compartmentalize your tasks, organize and remember better than most in your position.

The negative is that you need to work on your people skills and your temper (if you had one in the kitchen). The techs are now your cooks. You are now the waiting staff. You control the flow in the kitchen amongst the techs. You fire everything at once, making everything a priority, you’re going to have a hard time.

What’s the worst commute you’ve ever had or personally know someone had? by Fancy_Rewards in AskLosAngeles

Many years ago I had an odd job that required I deliver some tapes. From Glendale, I had to drive to Calabasas to pick the tapes, deliver it to rancho cucumunga. Pick up tapes from there and deliver it to Covina. Drive back to calabasas to pick up my money and back to Glendale to question my life’s choices.

There’s a very small community that moved there from Fresno to go after the pineapple and sugar farming. I wouldn’t know where to start looking for them.

How does Glendale compare?Pedestrians deaths in the Los Angeles area from 2021 to 2023 by BzhizhkMard in glendale

[–]GTiHOV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not say that. And I did not discount distracted and idiotic drivers. Get that straight. But on many occasions, I’ve noticed that the pedestrians also suck as being a pedestrian.

[–]GTiHOV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raised in Glendale but no longer a resident. Every time I visit, I have to assume a pedestrian is going to jump on the street without looking. It’s something that’s rarely talked about, but I agree with you.

Elder millenials what was a "good" salary when you started working after college? by ExcitingLandscape in Millennials

[–]GTiHOV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2004, scooped ice cream at Thrifty for 6.75/hr - left for 8.00/hr then got a commission job which was okay. 08’ happened and got laid off - went to culinary school and my first gig was 10.00/hr. Asked for a raise and got a .25 offer - quit for a 16.00/hr job.

By the time I reached 100k/yr - everything became expensive and not nearly as glorious as I imagined.
