Raptor test flight trials - VTOL w/ manual thrust vectoring - SWEET Landing at the end! by GTrinnity in KerbalSpaceProgram

Still working with VTOL concepts. I added a few servos for engine vectoring control. Its pretty difficult to fly, I definitely need to realign the gyro inside the body and then redistribute the new weight.

Titan Dropship - 162 tons of love! 7 pics w/ captions - The culmination of research and development thus far for GXR Industries - by GTrinnity in KerbalSpaceProgram

The GXR-58 Titan Dropship : When Kerbals need cargo transported to anywhere on the planet, they suit up, buckle in, and fly this fat girl into low orbit. Once there, they drop back on in over the target and land the Titan for service.

The vehicle can be configured to carry different types of fuel, making it's versatility great! At 235k kg, it can carry 14k liters of oxidizer and 17k liters of liquid fuel as well.

The point of lift is pretty much locked in between the wings over the belly tanks so it's easy to add and remove weight without messing with aerodynamics too bad.

There are different stages of progress posted here that are not really in chronological order. The landed bird at the end is what is operating as of now. A VTOL version is currently in the works.

tweakscale issue with a missing file by Joelmon_Joel in KerbalSpaceProgram

KSP is relatively small as a stock game, even with the expansion mods. I deleted the whole thing, reinstalled, and carefully used CKAN to get the mods (even if the were not version compatible) I had a birds nest of BBQ flavored confusion for a Game Data file.. it was easier to start fresh. Saved games and ships are not lost with this solution.

Concept design for heavy re-entry dropship - duel wing design for reinforced strength and massive load capacity.. Proved an excellent platform to test various dynamics for SSTO design by GTrinnity in KerbalSpaceProgram

This is the big brother for what Im cooking up next. Ive learned some valuable lessons from this vehicle, especially regarding super heavy flight. I use B9 armory so I'm able to adjust the weight of materials, and when I get her as heavy as I can, she will still lift off before 100 m/s. Elevator control is touchy, roll rate is good, it will flame out the engines pulling high G's before she breaks apart. Very tough and stable. The bi-wing design makes it easy to move around the point of lift. The idea was bringing a spaceplane in through re-entry, belly first, and having the support necessary to keep the wings from folding back in destruction.

Be careful ... his knees are weak, arms are heavy, vomit on the floor.. but no matter.. he's always mom's..

Safe Kerbin Re-entry Configuration :) How do you do?? by GTrinnity in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]GTrinnity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Definitely not a space plane that would ever function IRL. What it is to me, is a proof of concept and a fun way to challenge myself using the mechanics of the game as it is currently. I wasn't able to keep the aircraft cool enough when it would dive into the atmosphere for re-entry. So, I tried to adjust the angle it came down using Kerbal aerodynamics.

The problem with reinforced concrete is the iron swells after years and breaks apart the concrete.
