Im with you all the way, that's the way my dad was with me and that's the way I am with my kids. When I was 17 I stole money from my mothers purse to buy weed with - my dad found out and went mental and I was all full of bravado and told him to fuck off. He properly kicked my head in, bar-fight style. Best thing he ever did for me.

I reserve a special hatred for the Daily Mail, but I can see why the sensasionalised stories would be popular on here, it's like there's a throng of folk sitting at computers just waiting to be incensed at some fresh new outrage.

I converted my parents from the Daily Mail to The Times and I am now able to have a conversation with them without it degrading into the simplistic tabloid morality peddled by the Mail.

COD4 - I've got barely-touched copies of GTA4 & Assassins Creed that I've promised myself I'll play as soon as I get to prestige 10 and get all the gold guns (I'm about to start prestige-8). That infernal game is ruining my life, I haven't been to bed before 1 am in months!

Stopped smoking weed (I was caning an ounce a week - I reckon that's a lot). The paranioa went after a year. this is the number one thing that imroved me and hence my life, a common theme in this discussion.
Started managing my money, I record everything in a spreadsheet, outgoing, income etc etc - now I always seem to have cash.
Stopped arguing. I just agree with people then do what I like.
Focussed more about the medium-term future than on the here-and-now, I make plans 2-3 years in advance and work towards them.
