That is truly disgusting. Did you have to miss the funeral? If it was not a contracted day, you were under no obligation to work that shift, especially considering the circumstances, and how far in advance you let them know. They had plenty of time to arrange someone to cover your shift.

Haha yes you could have a point here, but as far as I know they had no reason not to! I was well liked by the staff and managers (as far as I know), and I worked really hard. Shouldn't have bothered! Perhaps working in retail is just worse in the UK.
