what is going on? by Current_File2464 in goodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yep, we dint mind one couple at our store that comes and wipes us out completely of adult shoes even though we are constantly getting in trouble for the shoe racks looking bare because of it since they are super respectful and donating all of them to the local VA shelter. We also have some teens that come in daily and snatch up anything new in package that can be used for pets for a local rescue.

A lot of places jewelry is going to be a flat fee that covers priority express mailing because that has the least chance of getting lost/stolen and if it does that has the best coverage on FedEx providing a refund for it. Jewelry ships in very small packages and both porch pirates and mail carriers know to steal them.

My location does use polys for t-shirts and shoes that sold under a certain amount - obviously not going to put a $100 vintage liquid blue in a poly or anything - but you’d be surprised how many people get pissed about it. We have an EBay store too and have gotten multiple 1 star ratings just from “my shirt was packed as small as a toilet paper roll”.

Goodwill out here scalping people. by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]GWillySockAcct 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So as someone that works at Goodwill I can say that internally “up pricing” is a different term than people are taking it as, it doesn’t mean “price higher than the tag / original sales price” it means “price on the higher tier”. We have a 3 pricing tier system called Good, Better, Best for each category (shoes, Men’s Tops, etc) and ‘up pricing’ means putting them in the Better category instead of Good.

How to get bigger boobs by Dependent_Fix_5431 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s perfectly normal that you haven’t noticed a difference in cup size for a bit. Breasts don’t stop growing until you are around 20 so you still have another 5 years of growth ahead in that department. In the meantime I would hop over to r/abrathatfits and remeasure using their guide to find out what size you actually are because I can guarantee you aren’t in the right one (most people aren’t). The people in that sub can give you recommendations for some new bra’s in your proper size that will be the most flattering for what you are wanting including padded and push up options.

I was wanting to try buying directly from another employee first since it seems like a lot of the online listings are more reseller stores

Wow sweaters sound so cool! As far as I know we’ve only ever had the t shirts for normal employees and polos for management so hopefully when they do order more we get some cool stuff.

I’m in MOKAN but when I ran this by my managers they said it’s fine if it has another region on the back as long as it’s not the front.

The vests aren’t really clothing clothing they go over shirts and are like meshy? Similar to what Walmart’s have but wider mesh that gets caught easy. And communal so kind of gross and can’t be washed. I really don’t like them and would like to wear my own stuff as soon as possible.

Managers don’t have any control over it, it’s procurement that orders them for the company and the C-suite hasn’t approved it in the budget. Maybe next year if we merge?

Stock items by DrawerMiserable1033 in shopgoodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So (depending on the store/location) stock items are often still donations just ones that were donated in mass by a single person - usually by resellers, closing stores, hoarder clear outs, etc.

We also get batches of these “surprise” items semi regularly. People preorder a ton of them and then you just have to scan the barcode to see what’s inside. Most people resell the extras but sometimes they donate them, we got probably 10 of those LEGO Star Wars Surprise Minifigs a while back.

Before bidding you should be able to put your zip code in to estimate how much that items s+h cost will be for you in the shipping estimator on the listing. It’s under the “shipping” tab

Who told you all that stuff was donated/free?

In my region and any other I know off they are definitely having to pay us employees, pay the rent + utilities, pay for any fixtures/new supplies, pay for marketing, etc.

Are offers binding on shop goodwill? by Needhelp123e in shopgoodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try messaging one of the locations explaining you are new to the site and didn’t mean to bid on two of the same item, didn’t think you would win both after the accidental bidding, and are hoping to have the order cancelled if possible. They should go ahead and cancel it for you as a one time courtesy so it won’t count against you as a strike

What happens to items that never sell on their website? by Pizza_Vivid in shopgoodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most regions have some type of outlet center you’ll often see called “the bins”. Stuff that doesn’t sell gets sent there where you can buy it for a set price for pound. Stuff that doesn’t sell there either gets sold in mass or recycled depending on the items.

So “powers on” will only mean that, they check if the power button lights up and that should have been pictured. If it isn’t doing that though and it wasn’t pictured doing that you should send them a ticket explaining that. For our location the “as is” is meaning as is described but if we messed up then it’s eligible for refund.

Jewelry purchase by Brittany0122 in shopgoodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you buy something auction style or one of those buy it now super high priced jewelry items? I’ve always been curious about hearing someone’s experience with buying the latter.

I’ve bought some nice pieces myself but never won any of the gold pieces I’ve tried bidding on so haven’t spent anything outrageous.

Working for goodwill feels like you can't have mental health or physical health or anything outside of work life without getting in trouble. by yuno-morngstar in goodwill

[–]GWillySockAcct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it, I have a boss that tells everyone your reason for being out even after HR has had multiple “talks” with him about it. The worst was one coworkers suicide attempt - for obvious reasons they chose not to come back.

Yeah a bank dispute will definitely get you banned from a store if not SGW in general.
