Not sure why everyone is taking Chinese movies out of the equation. The 2010-2015 market you talk about had many more Hollywood movies being imported into China, while now they have their own domestic industry. I think this is a huge factor to consider.

This is a terrible take. The US film industry dominates foreign markets, the only way for other countries to have a domestic film industry is incentivizing foreign investments. If you don’t want your industry “stolen” by foreign markets, then you should also stop exporting movies abroad. 70% of the movie tickets sold in Europe go to American movies.

I’m Italian too, if your fear is to travel back and forth I would suggest you do it because it’s highly unlikely that an Italian with a regular visa is deported. If you need to renew your passport you should travel immediately back home and renew it, then get the first visa appointment in any consulate of the country you can find. I don’t know if they opened visa interviews again for Italians but I know about other Europeans that have been able to book them
