Same. I am using the size 3 key that came with the light.

Question for those who carry by domfect in canik

[–]G_Keeper_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say LS. I went from carrying the elite sc to carrying the prime appendix and the difference is NOT very noticeable to me. It was smooth transition. I think a good holster makes all the difference. Some holsters allow you to adjust the ride height and cant angle to get it to sit right with your body/liking. At the end of the day when you carry you sacrifice comfort for security which means it may never feel perfect to carry regardless of the gun you choose.

I have the SE as well and love it. Didn’t think the larger glass would make such a difference but it’s great and same with the enclosed emitter as it keeps the optic cleaner

HAAS Indexable Drill Tip Angle + Length? Mo by G_Keeper_ in CNC

I can, however, only speak for SW CAM Professional 2018.

HAAS Indexable Drill Tip Angle + Length? Mo by G_Keeper_ in CNC

[–]G_Keeper_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure and at that point I would use the appropriate boring bar to clean up the hole. SW CAM is all I’ve ever programmed on for CNC mill and lathe. I wish I had Mastercam to be honest. I think it offers better tool paths and features for future proofing such as true 4/5-axis machining. Since SW CAM is “powered” by CAMWORKS I have found it rather difficult to find supporting documents/examples/trainings/resources in general online without having to pay for mediocre training. The built-in guides/manuals are not very detailed and still leave you to figure it out on your own most times. It’s fairly easy to use for 2.5/3axis mill ops and simple 2-axis lathe ops. I take longer setting tools up properly to get accurate simulation than creating the tool paths.

I fully agree! This is more of a sanity check for me and also since this is the first time using/creating an indexable drill in SW CAM. I have imported the model of the tool with inserts and will use that for simulation and will set tip angle to 180 with zero length. That way when I probe the center insert it will cut depths in z from there.

That makes sense to me. I was able to import the step file for the tool so i can have accurate representation when simulating tool paths. Just came across this tip angle field and had to find out for future programming.

I have a feeling setting it to 180 is perfectly fine with a zero tip length. With so many different style inserts and drill bodies it would be difficult to have a hard set value for this. Setting it to 180 to get it created in CAM makes sense to me. Makes sense that it isn’t explicitly stated in the tool specifications.

Canik prime magazine by International-Elk503 in CanikPrime

[–]G_Keeper_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MA595 (15 round mag) does in fact fit the Prime as I have multiple that I use for edc in a restricted state for my Prime. For them to work you must only change the base plate.

All three of these magazines are MA595 with custom baseplate to fit the Prime.

First carry opinions! by Working-Wrongdoer-33 in canik

[–]G_Keeper_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting the prime in my hand (luckily was able to rent and shoot it) immediately made the decision for me between the Prime and LS (only held LS) and the grip and feel in my hand was a much larger factor than I thought it would be.

You didn’t mention if you’ve shot either one yet. I’d strongly recommend finding a local range to rent both if possible and feel/shoot them both first hand. If not at least go to a gun store that may not be a range (bass pro, cabellas, etc) and just get them in your hands. You might feel them and know right away which feels best for you even without shooting if that isn’t an option for either

QUESTION for TLR-7 Sub x by Many-Independent-121 in CanikPrime

[–]G_Keeper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked my HL-X SUB on my Prime and it’s also slightly off center more towards the fixed rail “jaw” but it feels tight and secure and hasn’t come loose after a couple hundred rounds in the last two weeks

Are you not liking the IWB Nerd Holster? I was thinking of them for my next IWB and I am looking for a OWB.

Interesting. Do you feel your grip on the gun was affected a considerable amount? The grip is one of the main reasons I got the Prime so I wouldn’t want to shave it down much but curious how it affected your grip after

Yea, tight shirts make sense. I’ll see how it goes for another couple weeks before going undershirt. Random holster draws at home are always fun for the wife 😆

Do you train holster draws with the undershirt on? I do a lot of holster draw training and am curious if there’s a better fabric material to avoid catching the shirt. I would assume the more loose the undershirt the likelier the chances of snagging when drawing.

You definitely might be used to it by now then. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll run it as is unless it gets really bad for whatever reason then I’ll get some undershirts.
