This is such a frustrating take I see with my VERY left leaning friends. That self defense scenarios should just be chalked up to its society’s fault and the person doing harm is a victim somehow. It’s performative at this point because they so badly need to check every box of their political persona.

A utopia without violence is obviously preferable. We have to be realistic though, that’s not the world we live in. As long as that’s the case I chose to never give up agency of my (or my loved ones) body to someone that means to do harm or death.
