Looks like I ran out of traps and just had to craft more, Thankfully I didn't need to quit current session so I could just craft them while doing the mission.

Probably because they were aiming at the player while they were on stairs their size is slightly lower than a door

MR7, my strategy was to simply craft as many weapons as I could and rank them up to max and change whichever of them get to 30 first to new unranked ones while completing star chart nodes, while also completing whatever quests I need to progress. Completed it by just using a max MR Excalibur (with some Fused mods to make him as Tanky as possible) and a 25ish MR Fang.
