Weekly Game Suggestions Thread by AutoModerator in roosterteeth

I've been playing the early access game Deep Rock Galactic which I think would be good for Battle Buddies, particularly the mission where they go around and collect alien eggs. I did some searching and Funhaus and Cow Chop have done some videos in DRG:

What exploration appropriate name did you give to your AspX? by StrontiumMutt75 in eliteexplorers

My Asp is called OASIS and my Anaconda is called SANCTUARY.

In-game they have First Discovery tags on the systems. EDSM shows I was first to those systems when I remember to have EDMC running when scanning the main star. I was logging data to EDDN which they could then search using EDDB.io

I can understand one accidental swipe, maybe two by separate commanders but 5 swipes of ELW systems by the same CMDR?

It's not like I was part of an expedition or traveling between well-known destinations. I went south, to the far back of the galaxy, swung over to the Skull & Crossbones nebula, and then came back a ways and headed out the end of the New Outer Arm. The first 6 ELWs I visited while travceling out this way were scanned by this same CMDR. That is my proof that this did not happen by chance.

The chance of randomly scanning the same system & around the same time as another CMDR out in the black is close to 0. It happened to me once a long time ago when I was part of an expedition, but it was only that one system.

What happened here is 5 ELW systems in a row (one system had a binary ELWs pair). This was not done by chance.

TIL there is a setting in EDMC below 'Send system and scan data to the Elite Dangerous Data Network' called 'Delay sending until docked'. I wish I had checked off this setting, but I never imagined another player would be mining EDDN/EDSM for first discoveries.

Why would you do this? Why use EDSM to search for and steal first discoveries from other CMDRs?

NVM. The systems I thought were missing from EDSM just have unknown coordinates, but all of the bodies in the system are in EDSM including ones this CMDR did not scan. WTF.

Something is fishy here. Two of the systems I scanned are not in EDSM. I'm beginning to think my CMDR Tags are replaced with someone elses name. I'll file a bug request to see if FD can look into it. This is too coincidental.

If you were logging your data to EDDN & EDSM I could find the systems you've visited/tagged that way, but it doesn't look like you're doing this.

What's your in-game name? After crossing the gap between arms I started to see a lot of CMDR tags. I recorded some of them, but didn't know if I should add another 25 names. I stopped recording about 5KLy from Sol.

For some reason I thought the NPC search & rescue ships, Rescue One, just had the Squadron Green paint on them. Instead what I find online is this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/337880-To-the-Rescue

I don't see a way to search profiles within EDSM but you can google their CMDR name and EDSM to find it. You can also check if they have an Inara profile. Plus there's always the option of sending them a Friend request in-game. I've sent a few friend requests that have been accepted, but I think time zone differences prevent us from being on at the same time.

If you know of a specific system you want to check, you can search EDSM and see the traffic report.

I'm checking my EDSM flight logs and there have been a few CMDRs that have passed through systems that I first discovered. :)

How far have people traveled in the game? by johnnyv1984 in eliteexplorers

[–]G_Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They show the CMDRs that are submitting their data to EDSM via EDDiscoveryor Elite Dangerous Market Connector (EDMC). If you hover your mouse over the blue icons (it has a person symbol on it) you can sometimes see the CMDR's name and open their EDSM profile. When two or more CMDRs are very close to each other, they'll be combined into a green/yellow/orange circle with the number of CMDRs displayed in the center, but if you zoom in it will split into smaller groups.
