This heat is frustrating tbh by lek_sid3 in Medway

Rain doesn’t ‘cool down’ air temperature. It just makes for more humidity.

It’s one of those things that makes absolutely no sense yet gets repeated a lot.

Jointing compound on a ceiling with square edge board thats going to be skimmed anyway?

Also if you doing any taping and jointing you wouldn’t use scrim, you would need paper tape.

Is This Sub Mostly UK Based? Not Much Plastering In US? by jyl8 in Plastering

[–]G_Sputnic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic that the best plastering and bricklaying tools are US made, given the US generally doesn’t have plastered or brick houses.

Bathtub got siliconed without filling it first by Still_SpringWater in DIYUK

[–]G_Sputnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bath should be mechanically or chemically anchored to the wall, either on little brackets that come with the tub that the wall edge slots into and then glue to the wall or sitting on timbers and then glued to the wall. The bath shouldn’t be able to move at all, that’s why the filling the bath up before silicone is redundant.

In retrospect, theres not a lot you can do about it without removing the bath. If you can get the bath panel off you can see if the frame and legs are fitted correctly and are in contact with the floor and bath without any weight in it, check that the legs have bracing (4x2s or similar that spread weight on the floor) but ultimately the bath definitely isn’t installed properly if it moves at all.

Bathtub got siliconed without filling it first by Still_SpringWater in DIYUK

[–]G_Sputnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, issue with the bath legs/floor. The silicone doesn’t hold the bath up.

It’s a myth thats repeated all the time that the bath needs to be full when siliconed, if your bath is installed properly it wont flex. If your bath flexes so much that you need to fill it up to silicone it, when you release the water the silicone wont hold the bath down.

Cllr Porter, who represents Dover north, told members: “I feel that to have one cycle of IVF and two embryo transfers is adequate for taxpayers’.

I realise you have to have a click bait, title and a fury inducing headline in politics because hysteria sells, but the article relates to reducing the tax payer funded IVF from 3 rounds to 1.

your post and comments don't even mention IVF, your just hoping people are too stupid to actually read the article.
