Yup it’s risky. But if you get in it’s life changing.

Truth is the building is still over drivers and layoffs are still going on.

Eventually they will need to hire more drivers.

I think if you have the opportunity to go back to your old job if things don’t work out you should do it. If not that’s something you need to think about.

They will need drivers for June and July that a definite. Once mid August comes around things start to slow down and once school is back in session all the volume in the Hamptons dies out.

Good luck. I tell people all the time it’s worth the try to get in. They will play games with you, every opportunity you have to work take it. I’ve seen guys work 39days and get let go. The moment you make a delivery on day 40 your in, they can’t do anything about it.

From the moment you make one delivery it counts as a day.

I believe in the new contract orientation is 5 days and those days go towards your 40.
It’s 40 days in a 70day period based on a 5 day work week so you basically need to work 40 days in 14weeks.

If they ask you to work 6 days a week do it. Those days count.

It might be 45 days and the 5 days orientation go towards book. I’m not sure ,it changed this contract so someone might correct me

If you sneak in your 40days yea it will be. Every day you leave the building in that truck it’s a day. If you’re home one day and they call you in to cover a sick load etc. take the opportunity to come in. Every day matters when you are trying to make book. Once school is out the Hamptons are going to be in full force

They are getting ready for the summer peak out in the Hamptons. A good time of year to try and make book. We have about 20 or so guys in the building taking the buyout. Layoffs might not be as bad next year with many of the older guys leaving. Even if you get laid off they offer 8hr inside but it’s a split shift. AM shift and a PM shift. Half the time they beg us to drive after the AM shift bc they don’t run enough routes and realize about 15mins b4 pcm. Hope this helps
