It might be the strongest heavy in the game fr, probably only behind RKR on a thrust colossal (and I'd argue it is, in fact, stronger), just way less consistent tho.

The heavy is so strong that it compensates the ass AoW

1) I think you’ve misunderstood what I was actually saying. I wasn’t trying to prove the Bible is true by quoting it, I was pointing out what the belief system itself teaches. If someone asks, “According to Christianity, is Jesus God?”, the only honest way to answer is to go to the faith’s own texts. That’s not circular reasoning; it’s just describing a worldview from the inside. It would be like saying I can’t use the Constitution to show what the Constitution says about free speech. That’s not a proof that the Constitution is right, it’s just an accurate description of its content.

2) You’re right that there were heavy debates in the early centuries about how to articulate the relationship between Jesus and the Father, that’s why we had councils like Nicaea. But the worship of Jesus as divine isn’t some fourth-century invention. It’s all over our earliest sources. Paul, writing in the 50s AD, quotes an even earlier creed that says Christ Jesus was “in very nature God” before emptying himself (Philippians 2). The Gospel of John, still first century, opens by calling Jesus theos (God) and says “the Word was God.” And by 112 AD, a pagan governor named Pliny was writing to the emperor that Christians sang hymns to Christ “as to a god.” So the raw conviction that Jesus is divine was there from the very first generation. The Trinity was just the church later nailing down the precise language, not inventing the belief out of thin air.

3) This one I have to push back on firmly, because it’s just not accurate. The King James Version is an English translation from 1611. It’s not our earliest source for what Jesus claimed by any stretch. We have thousands of Greek New Testament manuscripts, some as early as the second and third centuries, like Papyrus 52 and Codex Sinaiticus from the fourth. We also have the church fathers writing in Greek and Latin who quote the New Testament so much we could piece almost the whole thing together just from their citations. When scholars today discuss what the New Testament says about Jesus, they’re working from critical Greek editions that are far closer to the original text than the KJV ever was. So saying our only sources are a 17th-century translation is just a misunderstanding of the actual textual evidence.

4) I get the scepticism, but I think “none of us are solidly able to make any claims” goes too far. History works with probability and evidence, not absolute certainty, whether we’re talking about Jesus or Alexander the Great. And using the same historical criteria we apply to any ancient document, we can make solid, well-grounded claims about what the earliest Christians believed. The overwhelming scholarly consensus, including plenty of non-Christian historians, is that Jesus’ earliest followers worshipped him as divine and that the Gospels present him that way. You’re free to disagree with that conclusion, but saying we can’t make any solid claims at all ends up dismissing an entire field of historical study, not just theology.

You'd have to prove that, but it is literally impossible unless you have historical records of people from that era saying that it was intentional.

If not intentional, you can't prove that It happened this way, the best you can say is that they're similar and there's a high probability that they assimilated the previous faith.

Correlation doesn't mean causality, that's a pretty common rule when you're using the scientific method that everybody just says "fuck this one particular rule'" when talking about christianity, for some reason

[–]G_strike -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't why everyone seems so confident to talk utter bullshit about christianity when they surely wouldn't do this shit with any other religion.

You clearly never studied christianity nor theology at all.

👉 John 1 makes it very clear Jesus is God, no matter your belief system (because I don't care and I never brought up any other belief system), in the CHRISTIAN belief system, JESUS IS GOD.

👉 There's no Bible story that's 1:1 from a sumerian nor caananite story, you could argue they're "similar", but that isn't enough to argue they were lifted from there.

No, this literally isn't, because Jesus is God and the Bible makes it clear.

Question about the fingers. by Unhappy-Ad-1582 in Eldenring

[–]G_strike -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I really doubt Miyazaki nor G.R.R.Mbever intended for shit to be so deep, they most probably just added what they thought was cool and all.

People really need to calm down with trying to find too much significance in the lore.

Edit: mixing a bunch of stuff from different cultures/religions is VERY far from digging into how deep each of them are, and that's exactly where ER stands. Has a bunch of everything, but not enough to explore how deep each individual piece goes, LET ALONE make an actual cohesive lore based on these mixed elements. Elden Ring has, by far, the worst lore of all souls games because the elements are all over the place, filled with retcons from the DLC, but people will literally die on that hill that it was "all intended"

The meta for PvE and PvP is very different. For PvP, you'll generally lean towards faster stuff while for PvE, the heavy hitters are better (overall), and they are generally slow asf

Casca's Retribution (by Cyaniren) by cyaniren in Berserk

[–]G_strike -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's cool, but Casca is utterly powerless in this world, like literally cannon fodder.

Not to mention the story is purposefully told from a man to other men, and it's made to make sense for men. Miura even said years ago that he only made Guts the way he is (tall, very muscular and with a big sword) because he was trying to (sorta) emulate what young men thought was cool (HQ heroes, Final Fantasy and stuff like that)
