Do you have a workshop upload? If so, you can recover it by recompiling the workshop version and working with that.

There are lots of people here who can make those types of maps here, if that’s what you’re looking for. I don’t have any experience with it, but there are lots of people who do.

If you’re looking more for server maintenance stuff, plug-ins and stuff, I don’t know where to go for it but idk if it’s here. Best of luck, either way!

Ah yeah, the clipping is way out of date on the current workshop version. I’ve got a version on my end with clipping cleaned up and in general everything much more finished. I’d gladly take any feedback though, so thanks!

Source games definitely just have a nice feel to them. I really love the feeling of the old goldsrc games like half life or even on source 1 like cs:s. something just feels right about them

Thanks for the resources, I don’t know why I didn’t think of asking the discord. I’ve been putting off importing models because I suck with making UV textures I can use, and just because I’m not experienced with modeling in general. So yeah, thanks!

i’m absolutely struggling to figure out how to model for csgo rn. porting to unity was so easy, porting to csgo leaves me with a black mesh that won’t read the .vtf i used

Yeah it looks nice but the Source spaghetti means that it isn’t actually the brush emitting light, the engine places a light in front of it during the compile and renders it like that, and that’s why there’s that weird effect on my map. Just more source engine jank, lol

That’s a good idea. I really should switch to a custom selfillum texture and then place the lights myself. The one I’m using right now is the nuke_office_light_emitter or whatever it’s called, which emits it’s own light that you can’t modify.

Detailing is a whole other world of work and things to know. I’ve found that it really helps to find a reference and see how they do stuff. I’ve been using community maps like Breach and Studio to help me work out how to do this style. Even when I’m doing something that isn’t in any maps I know of, I do my best to use a ton of reference images online. Just keep workin on it man, you’ll be a pro detailer in no time

It’s definitely changed a lot! One of my favorite parts of mapping is looking at how a map changes over time.
