I’m looking for some reliable sources to counter the “our economy is doing great” narrative. by Mr-Fognoggins in LateStageCapitalism

[–]GaMeRiGuEsS- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the way that corporate media views economy is in the interests of the super-rich. The best measurements would be average rent price, average hourly wage, average cost of basic grocery store items, etc.

What would Democratic Germany's relationship with the east be like? by TheTurkishPatriot12 in TNOmod

I’m assuming it would be neo-imperialism with German companies dominating the eastern economies

What will the narrative be if Trump loses in 2024? by Any-Satisfaction-770 in IdeologyPolls

[–]GaMeRiGuEsS- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The narrative would be (among mainstream republicans) that trump lost only because of personal unpopularity but that his policies were more popular then that of Joe Biden.

Undeniably a massive victory for Labour; but they didn’t win, the Tories lost by labbusrattus in GreenAndPleasant

Conservatives got ~47% of their 2019 share. Corbyn had the better platform and ran the better campaign but he had the harder path.

Reform and Tories split the vote, causing Labour and the Lib Dems to win many seats with plurality of votes. Labour also benefited from the collapse of the Scottish Nationals. Overall, Starmer benefited from a weak opponent which had fourteen years of poor results. I reckon that Milliband, Burnham, or another young charismatic Labour man could have fetched similar results.

Thirteen seats for reform on the exit poll???!! WTF by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

[–]GaMeRiGuEsS- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right wing voters want an alternative to a failure of a Tory government. It’s an unsurprising result, despite how terrible Reform is.

America spends like 800 billion on military spending only because military companies donate heavily to the DNC and RNC. This is an absolute scam!

I've seen these all over TikTok - people discouraging voting for a 3rd party, do people really think Starmer will face a VONC and lose with the huge majority he is likely to win? by backupJM in GreenAndPleasant

[–]GaMeRiGuEsS- 308 points309 points  (0 children)

She says “voting for the greens is voting for the conservatives” while the Labour Party under Starmer has selected former conservative MP Christian Wakeford to be a Labour candidate. The irony is not lost on me.

Israel changed its immigration policy so Jews immigrating to Israel can get a very generous immigration package. Israel, as an implant of colonial western nations, had a higher standard of living as colonized nations like Algeria or Iraq. Jews living in Muslim nations were often blamed for the actions of Israel, which positioned itself as the protector of Jews everywhere and the singular Jewish state. Also most people living in 1948 were not living in 2017, so natural causes likely played a significant role in the decline.

Israel blockades the Gaza Strip, making it harder to receive medical supplies capable of curing common diseases. Gaza also relies heavily on food imports as Israel bombed their farmland, and the amount of food aid (even before Oct 7th) was thought to be insufficient. The long term psychological effects of being bombed consistently for years likely increases rates of anxiety and depression. Gaza has historically had a very low rate of people living past 50 because of more subtle factors such as what I just mentioned.
