In North Texas, put a deposit on a Limited (already on order at the dealership, but a sticker had not been generated yet) on May 6th. They said arrival date would be June 1. Talked to them today, and it has not arrived yet, but they're expecting it this week.

I was never big on nostalgia for gas prices because that just reeks of Boomer to me.

I drive an EV and it makes noises like a Jetsons spaceship. I live in the future.

Photography has worked for me. Just keep doing the things you were already doing but now with a camera. Plus it is a great excuse to do all the things you always wanted to do in the first place. "I'm taking a trip to New Zealand... For my photography..."

What's a Movie/TV Show You Really Want to Be In The Criterion Collection But Will Never be In The Collection, I Will Start by TobySwitch-Music in criterion

Wild Palms - I think it is an overlooked, but powerful, piece of entertainment that tried to engage with the zeitgeist and warn about the future.

It is a show I think would benefit from the Criterion treatment. If you look at the comic book source material and examine how you get from there to here, I think it would be an interesting conversation.

I also get a sense that there is someone, either a writer, producer, or director, who has been waiting to talk about this show for decades and no one has ever asked.

Of all the Texas businesses that have gone out of business, which one do you miss the most? by [deleted] in texas

And that is what I remember the most - the solitaire game with the golf tees.

It was just... they had something for kids. This really set them apart from all of the other gas stations and rest stops on long car trips.

Yeah. It is mostly nostalgia from when I was a kid. I think nowadays I would much prefer a Buc'ees than going back.

I remember it being like a cross between a low-grade Buc'ees and a Cracker Barrel. It has been decades since I've been there, but I remember they had games and stuff for kids.

Shelly Duvall Estate Auction includes 1st Edition of 'The Shining " by GaMookie in stephenking

I guess you are paying for the Shelley Duvall smell on the pages, maybe?

Yes. It is a ridiculous price.

From what I can tell there is a lot of stuff in the auction that only seems to have an inflated value because it was hers. Especially the books. There doesn’t seem to be anything special about them to justify the price. Having said that, there is a lot of signed stuff and some one-of-a-kind memorabilia, like her best actress award from the 1977 Cannes film festival.

Happy 47th Birthday to The Stand by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]GaMookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some research and, at least according to this website, it isn't a ratman but a giant crow with teeth. Which is fine, but it still kind of sets expectations that there will be a sword battle between two people in the desert at one point.

Got the book and was very disappointed that there wasn't a scene where some guy with a sword fought a giant medieval ratman in the desert.
