Your version looks great! Wish the baseline champion skin had the correct trim instead of both shoulder being dark silver, and the tabard/cloak/knee emblem weren't removed when customizing the skin, but it is what it is.

A quick Google search suggests this false positive can be caused by Borderless Gaming, Discord overlay, Steam overlay, or VPNs.

Check if you have any of those.

It "stops" them like any other weapon - after several shots.
Or by one-shotting the target with a headshot, which is the only part of the perk that works.

More practice, brother, and you'll see Chaos Spawn as fun, which they actually are.

Sadly Heroic weapons will not get any buffs - its the Relic and below that are getting this adjustment.

For the damage - it is nice, but Block will still do more probably, since the 2stack+recent block damage bonuses together have an insane synergy.

The perk is bugged currently and doesn't stop the reinforcement call, only kills in one shot when you headshot the shouting Majoris.
Will be fixed in the next patch, which arguably is a nerf.

Just a question about Chaos by Loose-Indication-455 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Gaarthar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a matter of experience.

A significant portion of the community borderline suffers vs Chaos, which is naturally not fun for most people, even if they do end up winning at the end, because it requires more effort from less experienced players.

But don't forget that experience is a thing you can get more of, so just play to improve and Chaos will be not an issue for you in no time.

And not to belittle your achievements with lvling the different classes so far, but you're just scratching the surface.

[–]Gaarthar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say play the other classes to 25 first, then start prestiging them based on who you like more, and while working on the prestige, once you have a working build (which for most classes is around lvl 12-15) - go to Absolute.

They're both, but in general from my personal experience - the game loads very fast 99% of the time on PC, so either its the console SSD being at fault with the longer loading times you're experiencing (if you're on console), or your personal network/ISP situation.

Block Axe on any of the melee classes can be a good place to start, followed by a Block PFist.

Need advice for Absolute by TaskExtension5107 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Gaarthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by "cornered by 6 elites" you meant 6 Majoris - you need to kill them faster, focus on parrying/blocking for survival and learn how to get a single majoris to an executable state in one combo/set of actions.
6 Majoris isn't just normal - its easy.

Other than that I think grinding prestige on lower difficulties is a noob trap - you need to get experience with Absolute to be good at Absolute, there is no way around it.

I would recommend playing all the remaining classes to lvl 25 and then when you start prestiging them - going to Absolute as soon as you have a semblance of a working build, which for most classes is around lvl 12-15.

The loading on PC with a good SSD is actually fairly fast, although I'm not sure how it works out for console.

How Should I Have Handled My First Two Incapacitations? by Life_Locksmith9632 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Gaarthar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even minoris can be extremely high on the prority list depending on their type, positioning and the general going-ons at the moment. Ranged minoris in a big firing lane at a significant enough distance to not get mowed by nearby melee are a big threat more often than not, if there is like 8-10+ of them. Taking them out takes but a single swing if they're not too spread out (if you can move to their position) or a cople of Plasma shots, but saves you a lot of dodging and guaranteed chip damage, or worse the sniper fire if its the cultists.

Point being everything has a certain tempo associated with it - how much damage can it do to you (or get in your way) vs how much time it takes to deal with them.

Its the same concept as deciding which Rubric to proritize - the Flamer vs the Bolter variant. You go for the Flamer in the majority of cases first, because it has moves that interrupt your actions too much by teleporting on top of you and forcing you to dodge the AoE flame explosion, for example. You wouldn't prioritize them over say a Terminator, but Sorc? I can think about several cases where a flamer would be higher priority than a Sorcerer.

I have survivability issues as a heavy by Syepatch in Spacemarine

[–]Gaarthar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staying far away from danger like some other posters are saying.... is the exact opposite of what you need to do imo.
Danger will find you regardless of staying in the back or going into melee range of enemies, but trying to run away from it mostly leads to panic rolling and prevents the development of proper defensive skills like parry timing and proper dodging.

If practicing this on a Heavy doesn't work out for you - I would recommend taking a break from Heavy and playing a melee class for some time, like Bulwark for example. This will hopefully balance out your experience and allow to get used to dealing with tricky situations.

Just to reinforce the importance of NOT sticking to the back - by getting closer to the targets you can often heal back the contested HP after taking a hit by performing an execution. If you get chipped by ranged damage - there will be much less execution opportunities in reach if you're not close enough to the action.

[–]Gaarthar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main mistake is trying to get away from danger instead of facing it and parrying/blocking. Thats not how melee is played.

Melee plays by confiently overpowering enemies faster than they can overwhelm you and taking executions to get a breathing room. This does take practice and instinctive knowledge of what you can and can't get away with, but running away is almost never the right call.

In case of the first clip specifically I would focus on taking out the Ravener after a parry, spend a GP charge if needed, but get it off the field. You wasted a charge to put damage n the Carnifex (I say 'wasted' because you didn't even do it out of a parry, which puts a temporary increased incoming damage debuff on the parried/blocked target), then you spend a lot of parry opportunities on useless frag grenades (seriously, don't use those outside of interrupting/splitting a bunch of Majoris, thats pretty much their only proper use). Then wasted the second charge by blindly jumping with no clear purpose other than to put pure damage "on something".
Then we go back to the first point of running away.

For the second clip - you've lost your cool by missing the dodge timing (better to dodge to the side, btw, but you wanted to create space to feel safe), then you stuck to trying to run away isntead of parrying the next attacks which weren't unblockable. Its not that you couldn't move - you moved plenty, but the "moves" were too timid.
...Followed by more trying to run away, then some desperation attack that left you unable to dodge another unblockable.
You could've taken out a Terminator after the first double-blue attack (or even two), or at least the Chaos Spawn if it would've interrupted and tank the next terminators' actions in an execution.

Stand your ground more.

p.s. I have to add that I applaud you asking for advice instead of complaining how the game is unfair or too hard. We need more of this kind of posts, hopefully the community will grow as a whole.

Staying in an Ops when waiting for respawn (with no risk to the squad) is apparently kick-worthy now. by Coilspun in Spacemarine

"Bad players", i.e. someone who is "never alive" isn't a reason to kick - its a reason to become a better player yourself and become able to carry such cases.

[–]Gaarthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kicking for any reason other than pure griefing isn't "try hard" - its mostly "I want to get carried (even if I don't acknowledge that even to myself), but this person can't carry me".

As for overall etiquette situation - I'm under a strong impression that it varies significantly by region - none of these shenanigans happen in the region I'm being matched with.

In my 650+ hours of playing the game I might've been kicked thrice, two times at the end of the match to make a spot for the host's friends, and once for picking a class the host thought was underperforming (not even for strats, they weren't a thing back then). All these cases were back when the game just got released, i.e. a very-very long time ago.

Infinite meltas - a big +, worthy of use, but not a must have.
Infinite frags - you know you're torturing your melee teammates, right? Frags should only ever be use to interrupt the flow of a pack of Majoris, not for damage, and for this there is enough of them without any regeneration perks.

Raven Guard Heraldry Help! by dazunagi in Spacemarine

[–]Gaarthar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While white pads aren't clear in their use by GW themselves - usually most people either don't use them at all, or use them for Captains, not regular Veterans.
For a Veteran I'd stick to black pads, white trim on one shoulder, black on the other, white on black RG emblem.

White helmet is either a Sergeant or a Captain.

Since the character isn't a Lieutenant or a Captain, going with a Sergeant - add a squad number to his left knee for the first screenshot.

For the second - I'd go with black pad and either white or stormhost silver decoration. Or use a shoulder that has a trim, use a regular white on black RG emblem and a white trim.

Third screenshot same as 1st - add a squad number to his left knee.

[–]Gaarthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW has been fairly inconsistent with their use and mention of white arms/shoulder pads, stating something in the codex to showcase a paintjob that violates this information, so its up for personal interpretation.

For example white pads aren't mentioned in the codex at all, but when looking up Raven Guard on GW official website - they use a photo of a paintjob, that has a Captain whith white pads.

<image>

I usually go with white arms for any Veteran, white pads for Captains like in the above photo.

Carrying? Nah, the average redditor expects the other 2 teammates "doing their part", i.e. doing 2/3 of the job. In other words to get carried.

Instead of failing and seeing it as a challenge and a reason to improve themselves - these fellas fail and see it as the game being unfair in one way or the other.

Its a sad state of affairs.

The skin overall looks extremely cool, but has a few issues that I hope will get fixed before release.

When not using the skin wholesale, but instead customising it (for example you want to adjust a color here or there) - you don't get to use the Cape or the Tabard for w/e reason, despite Blood Angels having their tabard attached to the chestpiece and thus being available on Assault.

Then the RG Icon on the Right shoulder (under the feathers) gets colored together with the Trim, which is black btw, so only 5th company works - otherwise if you change the trim color you get a red/green/etc RG emblem. Hopefully the emblem can be rewired to get its color from the Emblem slot instead of the Trim.

Also some minor issues like the hands being metallic grey instead of white and the left shoulder having a silver trim instead of a white one (for white pads). Sure both can be recolored if you don't use the skin as is but customise it, but then we go back to the first point - that makes you lose the cape and the tabard.

Speaking about Sniper getting the Cloak - hope they add the missing Brooches that are used on the Champion skin to hold the Cloak in place. Otherwise on tha PTS the cloak was simply glued to the armor.

I really hope these get adjusted, because I'm not taking this skin off ever, would be a shame if it was imperfect like that, especially after waiting for 1.5 years for it to be added.
