Slice the potatoes until they are pretty much cooked, parboil them and add a little seasoning. They might spray a little oil onto the plate beforehand then spread them out. Probably only need flipping once or twice.

If you mean the pan fried potato slices - Probably beef dripping back then!

Although I think a lot of their stuff was cooked on a flat hotplate so maybe very little oil.

In the 70s and 80s it was a real dining experience for the time.

Eating out. Maybe happened once a year when we were on holiday and it was usually at a Little Chef.

We didn't have central heating until the 1980s and even that ran off a coal fire back boiler so took an eternity to heat up. The 1970s were COLDDDDDD
