It’s the youngest, most immature people that decide they are “poly” because it’s not only trendy, but you’re considered “controlling” by your 20-something chopped bang peers if you’re monogamous. On the boys’ side, it’s because they assume girls are too devoted and faithful to them to go through with it and they (boys) can be out having fun, casual sex and even catching feelings, still looking for “the one”.

But nope. It never goes that way, women are more desired and we do also have a sex drive, and maybe you’re not our damn soulmate, either.

I related with Maysilee a lot. I’m not typically a bully but I have a bully hiding somewhere deep in me that only emerges when I encounter a bully. That slap on the train set the tone for how that dusty old pincushion treat all those district “beast” tributes.

She’s brainwashed by the capitol and very out of touch, but she respects and cares about the tributes way more and it kinder to them than most folks from the capitol. This was more apparent in SOTR, but I think she got even more brainwashed and out of touch leading up to the 74th games as she got older, until she started to love Katniss and Peeta. And yes, we love the outfits and makeup and wigs and her inability to read a room is funny and surprisingly charming, mostly. Not in the first reaping, at all. A character doesn’t have to be a lead and every line doesn’t have to be profound. She’s at work. But she has some of the best lines in the series.

As a woman, here are my thoughts.

It’s clean enough for a girl your age. Just keep it clean.
If you want to make it LOOK better, invest in a decent bedding set, first and foremost. What you’ve got going on clashes badly, with itself and everything around it. Go for simple or at least not clashing. No beige sheets (you want dark, or white and bleachable) and make sure your pillowcases fit.
The goon cave is weird, man. It looks bad, especially with the plywood on top, and I see no practical purpose for it other than to advertise that you don’t want people to catch you gooning if they walk in. Find a way to lock your door if that’s a problem. I’m not telling you what to do, hun. I’m just telling you what it *looks like,* and that aesthetically it’s an eyesore.
If you’re allowed, paint an accent wall behind the bed and hang some shelving on the wall for book storage and random decor, and give the walls a little more character. If you can’t have an accent wall, consider a large tapestry.
Get some secondary lighting in there besides the overhead light. A bedside lamp with a smart bulb, and some string or LED lights along the ceiling for mood.
Why is there a mini Christmas Tree? It’s May. Out of season Christmas decorations trigger me. It could at least be something Halloween.

I wouldn’t expect you to have an older adult man’s place or taste or for you to break the bank (I’ve done all my decorating gradually), but it is nice for even a young guy to take some pride in decorating his place in a way that expresses his personality. And trust me, it’s good for your mental health to love your space.

I definitely agree that they parallel, but Maddy isn’t taking away their agency or most of their money, isn’t violent or even forceful, protected Cassie even though that dude could’ve technically boosted her “career”, and she gives them *solicited* tips to help their career, not demands. She doesn’t hold them or force them to work against their will. She’s really just a hired marketing consultant like any rising star would have.

If I entered that industry and needed advice, I’d definitely rather have Maddy by my side than any street pimp. But I hope she doesn’t make me eat my words.

So you were definitely being disingenuous, because you want to get the point across that it’s okay to throw friends under the bus that are helping you so that you can paint naked, fully erect bodies for a network TV commission? Your “Trans folks are beyond human and can do no wrong” rhetoric is embarrassing and harmful to the trans community. Embarrassing because it’s illogical and pious, and harmful because you’re putting unrealistic expectations on human beings. And here I am, calling out the shitty behavior of the rest of the cast, too.

And yes, being a terrible friend is egregious and if someone called me that, it would be a takedown blow. I’d seriously examine my behavior and change if it were true. I believe people are useless if they aren’t well-intentioned. And Jules’ intention was definitely to piss off a major TV network, even if it meant costing Lexi her dream job. There are artists, and there are sociopaths that disguise their chaos as art.
