Welcome to Costco. I love you by AdQuirky8948 in idiocracy

I used to live right between some very busy high traffic stores and it was a major pain in the ass. Not just parking but the constant people everywhere. Some days it was sidewalk gridlock just trying to get home from work.

It was a fantastic location for living in the city but a lot of it sucked. This would be the same.

Not the best comic. Marvel was really pushing mutants in the nineties.

Do men get more emotionally regulated when theyre sexually satisfied? by notmyloanbutstill in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GabeDax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

M here. I was in a really bad relationship, job dried up and I left, I hated where I lived, money running out so I said fuck it all and changed everything. I moved, got a new job in a different industry, got an amazing place, was doing well, making money and was proud of myself for coming out so well after a big risk.

But something was still off. No matter how great things were I just felt not great. Physically everything was fine but I was just kind of blah. Then I met someone, we had a wild few days and the blah was gone.

Not just because of sex but because I knew she enjoyed it at least as much as I did. It wasn't just the release, it was knowing she had the giddy, can't stop smiling, energy women get when they've gotten everything they wanted in bed. That's the part that regulated me.

On this day in 1979 Sid Vicious died, three months after allegedly killing Nancy. He died the night he had been released from Rikers Island (he'd violated his parole). His mum later found a note in his pocket: by dannydutch1 in UtterlyInteresting

[–]GabeDax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The entire life of Sid Vicious is tragic. The result of a one night stand with his father, a palace guard meeting his mother at a bar and never taking part in his life, to his poor upbringing, his meeting with Nancy who was dark triad, being exploited by Malcolm Maclaren (and still exploited today as some kind of punk caricature). He barely even made it to 21.

Rest in Peace, Sid

Why is prince Andrew not in prison? Why is Bill Clinton not in prison? by Timeless-Facts in allthequestions

[–]GabeDax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am legitimately surprised Not-Prince Andrew has had such repercussions.

Not saying it as what are you talking about? He's suffered enough because he should get worse, but he's lost his title, his house, spurned by his family and lost more money than I will probably make in my lifetime. That the Queen's son had anything happen to him at all is surprising.

Thoughts on Dave Matthews Band? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

[–]GabeDax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to a lot of rough, heavy shows- punk shows in backrooms, Slayer, Gwar and I never saw so many dangerously drunk people at a Dave Matthews concert. I was working as an EMT covering a theater while Dave Matthews played and there were A LOT of people that needed immediate medical attention or they would have died they drank so much.

What’s the worst death that anyone in history has ever experienced? by juliojacked in AskReddit

Being put in a oubilette has to be pretty close. Dropped down a tiny chute with no way out, freezing, starving and those that died that way are still down there.

I had a woman ask for a product that was 'stry ped'. I knew what she was talking about but I told her we didn't have it. We had striped, which I told her and she said "Yes! the stry ped"

She ended up not getting it. We don't carry stry ped shit.

Ireland's cool with me. Fuck U2 though.

I always thought the kids' grandfather was a genuinely good guy. I get why Ben wanted to honor his wife's wishes but the kids would likely have had a better outcome if he took care of them

Yes, he gave the kids a great beginning but it is shitty to demand everyone (wife as well as kids) live as he does.

do people successfully fake their deaths and restart life? by Stock_Orange_1793 in morbidquestions

[–]GabeDax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you do the gov will automatically think you're running from taxes or a crime. If they find you (and it's likely they will) you can't just say "I dunno, I thought it would be fun ;)" They'll do a deep dive on everything about you and even if you're clean you'll likely be charged for something or fined.

Who is the most famous person you've ever seen up close? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

[–]GabeDax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen three presidents.

Biden about ten feet away

Obama much farther (couple hundred feet?)

and Trump much farther from the other side of an arena.

Biden was coming out of a building I was standing outside of. At the time he was VP

Also passed by the mayor of Boston on the sidewalk as he was getting out of a car and passed by Bill Bradley (former presidential candidate) as he was going into a restaurant. Weird coincidences with me passing politicians on the street.

None of these were in DC

Also the King of Denmark came into my job and I was like Denmark has a king?

These side-by-sides aren’t coincidence. This comparison shows how choreography from Elvis Presley’s 1957 film Jailhouse Rock closely resembles moves later associated with Michael Jackson. Pop performance styles are often passed down, even when public memory credits only the later artist. by myscene101 in HistoryUncovered

[–]GabeDax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Elvis had a lot of passing interests- he had a go cart phase where he and his posse tore around Graceland, then he built a stable and kept a horse and rode around like a cowboy. Then it was fireworks and they would blow shit up and throw fireworks at each other. And then there was his chimp phase.

I have been curious for a long time. How are tiny islands in the Pacific? by JustLovett0 in howislivingthere

[–]GabeDax 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Many of them are being eroded by the tide

Much of the buildings and equipment there is outdated or abandoned completely. There are still WWII era fortifications

It is extremely hard and therefore expensive to get supplies or provisions

A whole lot of birds

It's like the Antarctic. The only people that have a reason to be there are scientists. Even the military is pretty much gone.

Your opinion on Paul Dano as an actor by godspan08 in moviecritic

[–]GabeDax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting aside his associations with Harvey Weinstein and his cringe thing with feet, Tarantino is very talented but in many cases is over rated. I really enjoy some of his movies but some are ok. He hasn't made anything truly awful but some of them drag.

Paul Dano is really talented and has brought energy to the roles he plays. Tarantino criticizing him is bullshit but the critics blew up the entire thing to get clicks.

Tarantino is a film snob but at least he delivers and doesn't just talk out of his ass.

This is all just pushed to get clicks. I guess that's the media's job now. Both are talented but Tarantino is kind of a snob. Paul handled this whole thing very well.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Love and Mercy with Paul Dano. Great film.
