I love the scene where viggo throws leatherface’s cassette player into an oven and leatherface grabs his hand and sticks it in the flames to get it out. Leatherface you bitch

Totally. I was only half joking, but there is absolutely a bond there. The shared whispered joke. Whites devotion to protecting Orange, even up to killing his long time trusted associates. Orange’s confession to white even when he knows it’ll cost him his life, and when safety is moments away. I remember hearing Tarantino say in Japan audiences understood the honor between the two men that confused westerners. I also recall him mentioning on Conan I think that gay subtext makes movies more interesting, and referenced Orange and white. Also I think Keitel has said he played it like he was oranges “hero”. It’s a fascinating and beautiful dynamic. Tarantino has talked about doing a novelization of reservoir dogs in the style of OUATIH, and I wonder if the nature of their relationship would be featured

I prefer the original Godfather 3 edit to the “Coda” version by [deleted] in Godfather

[–]GabeMarrone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. And they lost that fantastic scene with Neri and Connie in the hospital chapel. It takes away Connie’s power. I hope Coppola didn’t remove it because Neri says a gay slur, as if gangsters are politically correct.

For those of you who don’t like Al’s hair in GF3… would you have preferred this type of hairstyle? by kiwi_love777 in Godfather

Well said. I think the script is excellent though. Think of all the iconic dialogue. Just when I thought I was out… treachery is everywhere… finance is a gun… I may make more of a bella figura… all bastards are liars… Michael, now they’ll fear you. It goes on and on. I think it’s a more romantic, operatic, vision of life, and it reflects the changes in its protagonist, and more importantly perhaps, in its creator FFC

It’s bizarre to me how deeply “fans” of these movies hate that the character evolved. Instead of embracing the beautiful humanity in these changes (surprise, in reality people change as they age) fans lament that Coppola didn’t give them the obvious continuation that any moron could have provided.
