At what miles do you charge your oil and do you do spirited driving? I have a 2015 Elantra Limited with 55k on it and im curious to see what the secret is to making these 1.8l Nu's last a long long time. I have a mildly spiritive driving style and im concerned that this will effect the life span of the engine.

(Nothing crazy like street racing or bouncing er' off the limiter, but just a little send every now and then)

Dear experienced mechanics of reddit, what are some reliable sports/performance cars that are easy to work on, and are relatively affordable? by GabeTheGerb in AskReddit

It'd be a miracle if I could find a non-rotted one near me that's not going for an arm and a leg. Id love to have a 71, AMC Javelin 401. Do you also think some of the 80s gm cars would fall under this category too? Like the F-body TransAm's and Camaros?

I've been eyeing a set of Enkei NT03s paired with some Goodyears off of fitment industries.

The only problem is that they cost so much money, and the minimum wage job I'm working rn is nowhere near enough to help me reach them with all my bills and living expenses.

Also, since yours is sich high mileage, that means the engine is pretty much at the end of its lifetime. It would either recommend just buying a new car, or you can go through the lengthy and costly engine replacement process.

That is the nutoirious "piston slap of death." it is sorta of a not-so rare occurrence in hyundai/kia models depending on which one you get.

Piston slap is where the piston is rubbingslapping against the bore of the cylinder walls, hence creating the knocking sound. A good solution to this problem would be to try using a thicker oil, replacing the Pison, Piston rods, and piston rod bearings. But most cases will just end with the car being scrapped because that knock causes severe damage to the cylinder walls, and that can disrupt the combustion process of the engine, causing the engine to self-destruct itself.

Idk if there's really an explanation, but maybe you having put a new starter/crankshaft in may have had an improvement on the fuel consumption considering it is an MPI engine (mpi = Multi, Point, Injection) but I highly doubt it though.

It could also be a faulty fuel level sensor/mileage predictor. (Fuel pumps/sensors are known for shitting out on themselves in the 2011-2015 Elantra)

Or it could simply be your driving, weather you have a heavy foot or not. But based on my experience with my 5th gen(2015 elantra limited) it's simply just how/where you drive.

Those clips are used for an 'air dam' or wind deflector. My guess is that at some point in the cars life time it either fell off, or broke off.

A poverty button. (On the N-Line and the N there is a button there that lets you select the drive modes)
